Arrez Henderson

Featured Replies

You are out of your mind if you think Arrez is better than Hopson. I know Hopson never really plays hard but still. If he was better than Scotty, why isn't he a top 10 prospect in the nation?

Scotty is without a doubt a better prospect than Henderson. He's a 6'7 wingman whereas Henderson is a barely 6'1 guard. As big as Hopson is though, Henderson does the same things being a smaller guy.

If Hopson would go hard all the time, he's the best player in the state IMO, slightly ahead of Miller, given that Hopson has a better jumper.

Miller is the best player in the state though because not only is he a team player but he also gives it 110 % on voth ends of the floor every time he laces the NIke's up. Hopson seems to play a very lackluster game at times.

I agree with you completely.:thumb:

That top 10 list does seem pretty biased. I'll give it a shot, based solely on Sweet16 performances.

1. Miller

2. Sanford

3. Pittman

4. Moorman

5. R. Johnson

6. Stewart

7. Slone

8. Middleton

9. Henderson

10. Whitaker

I will give you Miller. But as far as the others im not so sure. Slone was shut down by Arrez and Arrez outscored him. Same with Sanford who happens to be number 2 on your list. Also Henderson was the one playing Saturday night and scoring 18 points in the state title game, was he not?

Just coming from what i saw from the weekend.

Can you imagine how good Arrez would be if he was 6'6'' - 6'7''? I would have killed to have the atleticism, skill, and height of Hopson back in my day. That kid needs to start playing hard and using that ability.

I am not trying to dispute Henderson as a good player, he plays probably the best defense of anyone in the state, but i dont think he can take a game over on the offensive end. If he developed a jump shot then he'd be very good.

Do you think that Smart, Novosel, and Stewart are all capable of taking over on a game on the offensive end?

Also, I could be wrong on this, but I heard somewhere that Smart isn't actually going to be on athletic scholarship at Vandy...

That is exactly what I'm talking about. Hopson is the better prospect, but it is largely because of his height and other things that Henderson could never change about himself.

If Arrez had that height I wouldn't doubt him being one of the top players in the country.

Man I don't know how because he has achieved so much, but that almost makes me feel for the kid. One thing is for sure, Henderson has earned everything he has gotten. It be nice if all of the top players played the game the way he does...

He is one of my favorite players to watch. He never stops working on his game.

well before you can put a head to head match on Sanford and Henderson you must first know that Catholic doesnt play man to man so therefore thats not a head to head on each other. Catholic plays a 3-2 or a matchup zone.

I havent heard anyone say any DI schools giving him offers, Sloan has had offers to play, Novosel is getting strong looks from Harvard (DI), Smart Vandy (DI), Stewart (Air Force). Point Proven?

Henderson was on Sanford the whole game defensively (man to man). If Sanford is a D1 guard he will struggle at the next level considering many think Henderson will just be a good D2 player.

Also Henderson has several D1 offers. (Louisiana Tech-where Karl Malone played, Eastern KY, Western Ky, WInthrop, as well as several MAC schools- Miami-OH, Bowling Green)

Henderson's isn't a jump shooter though which a lot of people who have only seen him this week don't realize. He has a nice mid range game but needs to indeed develop a better 3 point shot. (He shot 35 % from behind hte arc this year) For being 6'1 though the kid can finish around the rack better than anyone in the state that is his size. If he is going to be a point guard at the next level though why does he need to develop a better outside game? Isn't it the PG's job to get the ball in to the hands of the scorers and get assists?

If Arrez were 6'3 or 6'4 he'd be the #1 prospect in the state considering he does the same things as Hopson and Miller athletically being a smaller guy. But that's not something that can he can change. The kid is the hardest working player on the floor hands down anytime he steps on the court. He has worked for everything he has.

As far as him not being able to take over a game offensively here are a few of his totals from this year:

Harrison CO- 35 points

Simon Kenton- 28

Newport- 29

Covcath- 30

Highlands- 26

Paintsville-21

Mason Co- 18

The last 4 stand out the most considering those were the 4 closest games for Holmes this year. Henderson has a great supporting cast which is why he ONLY averages 17 a game. Anyone who has seen him all year rather than judging on 4 games, knows he has the capability to take over a game.

I think what is important about his offensive game is that it is fearless. If you need a bucket he's the guy that will say "give me the ball" and not hesitate. Usually he delivers. I don't think there is any doubt that he is a DI defender, people doubt his DI PG skills.

Does he have offers from all of those schools? If so, that is very impressive. It would make a few people saying he can't play DI rethink some things, unless they are seeing something that the recruiters are missing.

I recently heard Henderson is an NKU lean. Is this wrong?

Eta Rho would be the one to ask about that definitively, but I had heard that he was determined to go DI...

A player like Henderson, who has the passion for the game and desire, to defend will be very valuable to a college program.

Henderson, along with the Holmes players were very impressive at the Sweet 16. Hope Arrez, excels at the next level.

I agree. In every big game situation this year it has been Henderson who came up with the big shots.

And yes Henderson does indeed have offers from all of those schools which is why I kept telling people he was good enough to go D1. I think recruiters would know a little more than us average fans.

The reason he hasn't committed yet though is because he hasn't went on his trip to Louisiana Tech and he wanted to see who else came in the picture after the sweet 16.

Henderson wants to play D1. The way I'm hearing it, and this is from a coach at Holmes, is that Henderson will weigh his options as far as the D1 schools (academics, playing time, position, etc), and he will use the NKU scholarship to fall back on.

If I had to guess though, Louisiana Tech is where he'll end up which is a D1 WAC school.
