State Tournament Officials!

Featured Replies

One word for all three: TERRIBLE!

I think they had electronic whistles with sensors. Every Time a Holmes player got close to Miller, their whistles went off.

I totally agree with you. :thumb: The officiating in this state is absolutely pittiful.

If Larry Boucher of the KHSAA can't get better officials than what was at the tournament, then he needs to consider bringing in college officials.

Have you been watching the college games this month? They are also horrible!

Glenn Napier, Tony Gray, and Craig Henson

From what regions?

From what regions?

Napier 14th, Gray 12th, Henson 1st

Is Henson the tall guy that also did the championship last year?

I've been to lots of sweet 16 games and I can't recall any previous tourney in which so much physical play was allowed. It seemed like "if there were no bones stickin' out or blood lettingit was a no call" just my observation

Warrior69: Are you serious? You must have something personal against Black because his officiating resume speaks for itself. He's worked the state tournament several times and will probably work it several more. You can go to http://www.khsaa.org and get registered to officiate if you think you can do any better. Or you can sit in the stands and stuff your face with popcorn and then get on here and criticize people.

Yes the tall guy did do the finals last year. He was a replacement for Joe Billman or Marla Gearhardt. Went from doing no tourney to the finals. Lucky wasn't he.

I dont think he is a bad ref from everything I have seen the last two years. He had that late call that looked pretty bad last night, but that is one of the only ones I can really remember right off. He takes control of the game and usually gets his calls right.

Lot of ticky tack against the dawgs. Not the way a game is normally called at Rupp.

Glenn Napier, from the 14th, was one of the refs. He was the tall, slim built ref.

Worst I seen all weekend was the taller one with no hair on top. Would run with his wings out like a rooster, Guess he had to be noticed, He made some very very bad DELAYED calls.

They might not be the best, but they are much better than the KHSAA officials.

I haven't read much of the thread but this was the worst officiated sweet 16 I have ever seen.

Just because Coldiron didn't go that doesn't mean that the official who went in his place isn't capable and isn't one of the best from that region. I know what you are saying, I completely understand it but Boucher's process is the best way to do it. There are so many different things that he has to think about for the overall good of the state officials and to ensure that he has good officials in the future.

Sandlin may have been one of the best but he wasn't the best so he shouldn't have went. We don't send the runner-up in place of the regional champ to the State Tournament. Boucher's process is not the best way to do it because the best officials are not calling the State. It shouldn't be who you know or who you suck-up too. It's way to political and Boucher has too much control.

Yes, the one delayed foul call on Holmes last night was pretty bad. But I think sometimes the refs wait to see if the shot goes in before they call a foul. Not saying I agree, but seems to be what happens. Either that, or they have defective whistles!

Anyway, I didn't see anything too biased one way or another in the championship games. Lots of physical play on both sides. I saw Holmes guys get hit on shots and also Mason.

I don't think the refs made any difference in the game.
