Casino Plan Stalled; Beshear Reneges on Campaign Promise and Raising taxes

Recommended Posts

You are wrong on the first count, completely. Private attorneys are paid much more than state attorneys so when they farm legal work out it costs the state more money. Same is true of accounting and construction and street cleaning and whatever you want to discuss. "they do far more with far less" what does that suppose to mean and what data do you have to support it.

On a whim?? You have got to be kidding me. Do just a little bit of research on the state budget, a little, and tell me we haven't been borrowing money to keep basic services going. We are generally so backward that we think all taxes are bad, yet when a service that we need is slow or awkward or doesn't respond to my needs then we complain. We forget that we don't want to increase revenue so services are going to diminish.

Sorry but he's dead on. The problem is not with the specific wage, it's with how many attorneys it seems to take to equal the output of a single private attorney, or engineer, or accountant or whatever.

You are kidding me right? How many state attorneys do you know or accountants or engineers.

In my Sunday School class alone there two state auditors (one works for Luellen and one works for education) - There is also an IT guy who works for the State Auditor and one who is contracted by the state through Palmeroy. My wife was in private practice for 6 years and a corporate attorney for 2 before going to the state. You seem to suggest that her work product probably went down after the Commonwealth hired her - I would ventur to say it went up. The two IT guys do the same amount of work the one contracted by the state makes significantly more. The auditor for education puts in lots of extra hours, especially during the session and will not be paid for those (she has no expectation that she will and does not whine about it) and auditor in Crit's office spends a significant amount of time on the road performing audits for various state agencies. All of these people are exceptionally competent and you will say it takes more of them to accomplish somethig than someone in the private field. How dare you attack a bunch of good people to make some political point when you have no real data or experience to speak of, only a belief in a scenario that supports you political ideas about state government and its workers.
