He's a nice, reasonable person. If he didn't work overnight 5 days a week we wouldn't have a problem. Invite her up, and we might have to call you in for reinforcements...

HHMmm from the sounds of it, I can see why he works the O.T.!

In these types of situations, I always refer to what the person displayed in my avatar would do...that should solve everything.

Comes with the territory of living in the port I guess. We've had our fair share of crazy neighbors.

Man, that sucks.

You ever thought about being a counselor? :p

Okay Gametime you are a reasonable young man. First I would make one last ditch effort to talk to the man that works nights and explain the situation. Let him know it has to stop or you will make a police report for disturbing the peace. Once this is done you have some leverage with the landlord. If they see you have a report they know they have to make something happen. Put it in the hands of the landlord and knowing you the landlord does not want to lose you as a tennant. Good Luck. JD

This is your only reasonable course of action!

:thumb: I heard that (LOL), he might want to consider 24hr"on call" round the clock type shifts at work where he can take sleep breaks. With all that kind of o.t. added he could possibly afford a divorce lawyer.

:laugh: That's funny right there..... I don't care who you are.

She does need help, and that's why I've been trying to go that route. It isn't working, and getting worse by the day...

Then I would agree with the ones that suggested that you talk to the husband, the landlord and call the police/authorities. This woman obviously needs help and should be removed from the building if this is going on constantly, this would be for her own sake as well.

Seems to me that her safety would be a big concern for her husband and the landlord. From what you have described I would say that she needs protection from herself, I would not be suprised if we read a "she commited suicide" post from you in the future if she is allowed to go on like this.

Summing it up and in the words of Barney Fyffe......."she's a nut"!

I wonder if you could have Ernest T. Bass in drag living next to you?

Buy a house. A great time to do so. Especially if you are not having to sell one.

I'd go to a Hotel for a couple of nights and see how that works out for a Wed, and Thur. nights. See if you like sleeping with no noise. Then find out if the couple have a place they could move to and then help them move. If not then get out, it's probable easier for you and your wife to move than it would be for them. Your not going to live their a long time anyways so what does it really matter. You will be in your on place soon or are working toward it. With your job you could be moving to some other state sometime later couldn't you?

As a psych nurse, I can tell you to definately NOT approach her. She most likely cannot control her behavior and is incapable of listening to reason. What she is doing makes perfect sense to her. Tell her husband what is going on. He has undoubtedly been down that road before. Hopefully he can get her to her doctor and get her medication adjusted.

Also, keep in mind that mentally ill people can become dangerous. Our patients often leave the oven/stove on or chain smoke without being careful with their cigarettes.

If she is paranoid, that could be even worse. Many of our paranoid patients carry guns, knives and razors. It takes little to nothing to set them off. Again, it is not their fault, they are truly fearful of some unknown, unseen enemy. I once had a patient who had set traps under her windows and by her door. Those "traps" were cans of gasoline which she planned on lighting if someone tried to get in. Also, if she is truly psychotic and you yell at her, you risk becoming part of her psychosis and you definately do not want her to focus on you or your wife.

I dont mean to scare you. Most mentally ill people are harmless, gentle souls, but you are certainly not the one to make that determination.

If you do not get results from talking to the husband, then call the police, but explain to them that the woman is mentally ill. They will know how to handle her.

I also agree that you have to keep the landlord updated with what is going on. He certainly has a right to know and I imagine if it is "you or them", he would likely chose you.

But then again............wonder what the lady downstairs has to say about YOU?

Good luck and let us know how things go.

That's pretty much how I've handled it.

It's pretty much to the point that the landlord has to evict them. Before they moved in the landlord spent a bunch of money refurbishing the apartment, and it's apparently already in bad shape because of her fits. She flushed an entire candle and glass holder that messed up the plumbing for a few days among other things.

I called the police two nights ago, explained she had mental issues and was going wild, and they showed up, listened to her scream and sob for a few minutes and then left he there by herself. :irked:
