In A Bit Of A Pickle

I know people, want I take care of your problem GT? :devil:

j/k, I know how annoying this sort of thing can be. I had my share of nut-jobs when I lived in apartments.

That's pretty much how I've handled it.

It's pretty much to the point that the landlord has to evict them. Before they moved in the landlord spent a bunch of money refurbishing the apartment, and it's apparently already in bad shape because of her fits. She flushed an entire candle and glass holder that messed up the plumbing for a few days among other things.

I called the police two nights ago, explained she had mental issues and was going wild, and they showed up, listened to her scream and sob for a few minutes and then left he there by herself. :irked:

Most likely they will get evicted. Our patients are constantly changing housing for the same reason. Oddly enough our patients often flush the oddest things down the toilet. Maintainence spends a lot of time unclogging toilets on our unit. I never understood that one, but it is an interesting fact.

Too bad, it sounds as if your local police are not educated in handling the mentally ill. Many of our patients are brought into the hospital by our police officers. They are trained in how to handle the mentally ill and usually do a good job. Most of the officers know the patients because they bring them in so often. Sounds as if your officers didnt know what to do.

It is a very sad situation all around. I feel bad for you and your neighbor.

Keep calling them and complaining, they will eventually do something :lol:.

Easy there fan. The law is very clear on denying someone their liberty. Just because someone has a fit and makes a lot of noise doesn't mean the police have a legal ability to force them to the hospital.

For the record, the worst people I have ever seen handling the mentally ill have been mental health nurses. Several times I have spent a lot of time getting someone to cooperate only to have a nurse with a chip on her shoulder make some kind of smart comment to the patient about causing trouble. However, most nurses are trained very well and usually do a good job.

gt, to answer your question, you need to lead the charge with all the tenants in your building. Once you get most or all of them on board you go to the landlord and tell him it is her or all of you. That will solve your problem.

As fan pointed out, the worst thing you could do is approach her because you can't be rational with irrational people.

I'd throw the pickle at her...

:lol::lol::lol: That just ain't right.

Obviously the husband has a problem also. If he knows her condition and still leaves her there alone then someone needs to discuss this with him. Not being an expert on mental illness, I really don't have a lot to say on the subject, but it seems to me that this lady needs help and her husband is either ignoring her situation or just doesn't care. Either way, she deserves to have someone help her.

Your lucky I've been a calming influence when you are around her. If not, you'd have likely ended up in the hospital a time or two... :lol:
