Lexington Christian fined over financial aid to athletes

All of this would be solved if KHSAA did infact allow private schools to recruit and pay athletes tuition..... just put all the private schools in their own class.

AGREED!!!!

On another note I have also noticed that quite a few athletes at LCA are stars in two sports. Take Lucas Witt for example. QB and pitcher I believe. Last year look at Emily London. Led her teams to state titles in tennis and basketball. Clara Mitchell.. basketball star and on softball team.... I'm sure there's tons more where those came from as well...

Didn't anyone think that the most interesting part of the punishment was they have to pay the money back and if they don't they can't play. If they couldn't afford it in the first place, how will they pay it back?

Very good point.

If the KHSAA wanted to stop this behavior the would rule the kids ineligable and ban the schools from post season play.

I was told by a person with the KHSAA at the time of the LexCath issue, that there had been a lot of smoke with LexCath and they believed they were involved with things but could not get the proof. Once they did, they were going to come down with the hammer.

That might be the reason why LexCath's was more.

I think the cost of the LexCath investigation (which was part of the monetary sanction) was a lot more and is the difference in the two different monetary sanctions. As I recall, and I may be wrong, the LexCath fine was $3,000 plus the cost of the investigation.

This is not funnny but yet so funny!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

:dancingpa Wow, I've been looking for some great bulletin board material!!! Safe to say... we'll be hitting the weights a little harder tomorrow because if this. Anyone with a pulse knows that LCA recruits, screens kids, and limits their enrollment to remain 1A. Maybe the KHSAA will step up and do the right thing... Maybe? Either way, doesn't matter to me or my boys, we'll be talking about working to the point when we can compete with LCA every set, every rep, every day. I rarely post, but this one is interesting. Nice post above...:thumb:

You should have been doing that from the very beginning. LCA cheated, got caught, and should lose all postseason priviliges for 2 years.

If the individual school districts would simply have open enrollment, there would be no issue.

The districts choose to close themselves off, I have no sympathy.

And has been pointed out numerous times, it is not as simple as that.

Problems with it:

1) some districts because of geography location, open enrollment has zero effect on while others would get a huge boom;

2) public schools that accept out of district students cannot offer "tuition assistance" or scholarships for those coming into the district.

3) public schools charge from the state is that they are responsible for educating kids in a certain geographical area. You are wanting them to step OUT of their responsibility and take in kids from other areas for the sake of being on an even playing field with private schools. They should be worried about the kids that are supposed to be educating and let the schools in charge of the other kids worry about them.

Either the KHSAA is getting more efficient with their investigating of it was a hard case to find that Catholic was indeed doing anything wong.

I've argued these points with you too many times, every time and we just don't agree.

The simple way out is to segregate those not like you, that's worked out in the past hasn't it?
