Reds trade Hamilton for Volquez

Featured Replies

I like the deal. I think that its great that the Reds are focusing on pitching. They are very deep in the outfield so this trade is going to e better off for the Reds because Hamilton is very injury prone.

Yes I agree with you on this. The Reds have alot of talent in the outfield. This also leads me to believe that Adam Dunn could possibly play for the Reds for many years now.

I like the move. Never enough good young arms...

Right, as long as we don't get "leatherpants'd"...

I'm not against trading Hamilton but it seems like the opposite of what they did in other trades. They went to the future instead of the now, unless of course they're going to use this cat for another trade. In that case, I'd be all for it. But if they don't, I don't think I like it...oh no, I've gone cross-eyed...

Interesting thought about using them in another trade. Not sure if that is the plan but if it can help net Bedard I'd be all for it.

This really, really, sucks!

My second favorite Red, behind Phillips.

:thumb::thumb: I love the deal as well. As LABS mentioned earlier, Hamilton was expendable, and the Reds got two young arms out of it. I can remember how upset a lot of people were in the late 80's when Dave Parker was traded for a young kid with a great arm by the name of Jose Rijo. I applaud WK for pulling of this trade.

HOLY CRAP!!! Until you said that I thought it was just Volquez. I even read the article. Not sure how I missed this...

The Rangers acquired outfielder Josh Hamilton from the Reds on Friday in exchange for right-hander Edinson Volquez and Minor League left-hander Danny Herrera.

I really, really like it...

I liked all of the excitment that Hamilton brought to the field and the team but it may sell tickets but not always win games...

I'm with the thought that this might help get the Bedard deal done.

I was hoping to see Hamilton in a Reds uniform next season but if the trade will make the Reds a better team then I am all for it.

They definitely need some pitching.

I wish Hamilton the best and hope he continues to win his personal battle.

^WK says he will be in the mix to start this year.

What happened to "win now"

Nothing. This trade helps toward that goal.

^ Why is that?

Maybe they add these 2 arms to entice the Orioles.

They're done. They're will be no trade for Bedard, at least not right now. Not only that, you don't give up Hamilton, just to HOPEFULLY entice someone else, that makes 0 sense.

I like this move very very much.
