December 21, 200718 yr I'm not against trading Hamilton but it seems like the opposite of what they did in other trades. They went to the future instead of the now, unless of course they're going to use this cat for another trade. In that case, I'd be all for it. But if they don't, I don't think I like it...oh no, I've gone cross-eyed...
December 21, 200718 yr Don't know much about the guy they traded for, is it a good trade for the Reds or what guys?
December 21, 200718 yr The trade is great if either of these guys end up with the team, BUT as of right now this is a bad deal. I know Hobbs couldn't stay healthy last year, BUT you give him one more year to see if he can get through the year. Course then someone would say that if he isn't healthy and doesn't put up numbers, then you couldn't get anything for him, oh well. We will continue to get a steady diet of Freel the 30 games a year he is healthy during the year. Lovely.

If they come in the first 6 weeks, then we have a problem....

I give Freel credit for his hustle on the field and his all out behavior. BUT we can all agree that "all out behavior" not only gets him hurt, it's liable to injure someone else on the team as well.
December 21, 200718 yr I like it. The Reds have Bruce in their back pocket. Hamilton is expendable. As tantalizing as he is as a talent, you just don't know how much mileage he as on him, physically and even mentally. Recovery from injury...and so on. As little as I have read, Volquez has a sinking fastball which as hit 97 on the gun and a change in the low 80's. Pitched in the hitter friendly Texas League, and has a good GB/FB ratio...which is better than Bailey and Cueto. Do we bring up Bruce, or do we sign up Mike Cameron for a year? I can dig Cameron patrolling CF.
December 21, 200718 yr I'll have to see this guy in action, but from the looks of it, it looks like the Reds were just trying to trade him, maybe medical issues, I don't know.
December 21, 200718 yr WK says this guy will be getting a strong look at the strating rotation in spring training. If he can come in and be a # 3 or 4 guy I can live with this.
December 21, 200718 yr I like the deal. I think that its great that the Reds are focusing on pitching. They are very deep in the outfield so this trade is going to e better off for the Reds because Hamilton is very injury prone.
December 22, 200718 yr WK says this guy will be getting a strong look at the strating rotation in spring training. If he can come in and be a # 3 or 4 guy I can like with this. If that is the case, I love it. I was afraid that they traded Hobbs for a minor league prospect. I hope he can come and be a solid starter! Let's just hope we can get the trade for Bedard, or is that pretty much dead in the water?
