First of all, congrats to T on the win. It was a great game. X had its chances to put the game away, but didn't do it. That's our fault.

On Caoch Glaser, the first part of the quote was not reported on this thread and that was that he had told his players BEFORE the game that they were champions, win or lose.

Understand, we lost the game, but before you continue to lamblast our school, coaches, players, and fans, consider what the result may have been with the correct call on the Phillips fumble(Who by the way, we couldn't stop all night)?

 

St. X's players played an excellent game and should be commended for the class the showed last night and throughout the season. They were a great team and had one of the best defenses I've seen in sometime. I could be wrong, but I don't think anyone has been critical of St. X's players. Rather, critical of a coach who now has to explain to his senior class how they were the better team in 2005 and 2007, but has zero rings. I guess he can give them the "journey speech" again.

 

X's fans, players, school and assisstant coaches were all class last night. The comments on this thread are just directed at the Umbrella.

The Phillips fumble excuse is getting old already. Perhaps he did fumble because his facemask was being yanked left and right all night. X got plenty of breaks on calls and spots, we'll see those again on the replay tonight.

I like that name....THE UMBRELLA....I don't think I'll ever call him anything other than that again.

 

Let's rehash an old conversation....how long is second fiddle going to be good enough for the Xaverians..they didn't like that we had a new stadium, they built a new one, we have way more state championships...and we own this decade....I know that there have to be those of the X faithful that have to be boiling inside in regards to a school that has half the money, half the property, half the tenure, half the alum...but almost double the championships....

St X's kids had a terrific season & put up a valiant effort in the title game. Congrats to the Rocks on bringing home the hardware, the dynasty continues. Trinity may need to start raising money for a second rotunda over there.

Nothing against the players they are all great kids, but the head man may be a little out of control. You hit it. Oxnard hasn't been on yet, but as he has been kind enough to remind us ad nauseum, X has dominated the freshman level in recent years. The freshman level is a good gauge of the relative talent level of the two teams. That leaves the X-men with the problem of explaining why their overwhelming advantage in talent has resulted in an 0fer for this class.

I would only hope that Coach Glaser's wife and daughter have never heard of Bluegrasspreps.

To play Devil's Advocate a bit here, I believe the question Glaser was asked was "What did you tell your kids about this tough loss," and that prompted his rambling, emotional comment. I would not read it as disrespect toward Trinity, or an inability of Glaser to face reality, but more as he's recounting what he told his kids to keep their spirits up after a heartbreaking loss.

 

You have to look at stuff like this from both sides of the coin sometimes and quit looking for perceived slights.

 

That is what puzzles me about a team that won 6 of 7 and 18 championships to have such a chip on their shoulder? Come on who cares what is quoted? Not many if any X fans on here said that it would not be a close game. The only thing that bothered me is that Trinity is not the school anymore that many of my close friends went to in late 80's and early 90's when they 3 peated with class. The students running up to players from X and to the X student section and flipping the bird and yelling curse words at them showed me just what their school has become. If winning is all that matters than you have what you want. If X had pulled this one out you would not have seen that. There was even a dad of a certain Trinity star that was shouting and running his mouth to X kids as they kneeled down and cried. Grow up man you have a championship ring of your own. Congrats to Trinity for capitalizing when they had to. Congrats to Bean and Coverdale for well called games.
