Let's rehash an old conversation....how long is second fiddle going to be good enough for the Xaverians..they didn't like that we had a new stadium, they built a new one, we have way more state championships...and we own this decade....I know that there have to be those of the X faithful that have to be boiling inside in regards to a school that has half the money, half the property, half the tenure, half the alum...but almost double the championships....

 

You forgot the fact we also took away the old fall back - We have more National Merit Scholars this year

Suffice to say that the first meeting of the season between these two teams is meaningless?

 

Not meaningless, if anything it shows how much better one staff is at adjusting and preparing for a re-match.

 

And if I have to choose between the ugly stick that the regular season winner gets or the state championship I know which one I pick.

1. What is the X perspective on not kicking the field goal to go up 10? Agree with the call?

 

2. How about throwing on second down in overtime when you have the best back in the state?

 

1. At the time I liked not kicking the field goal. I didn't think we'd keep T out of the end zone for nearly the entire second half.

2. I cringed when I saw Zoeller drop back to pass in OT on second down. I would have preferred to see Duece run it on first and second. Then, on 3rd if it was 5 or more put Ben in shotgun and let him roll out and either tuck it or throw if somebody was wide open near the sideline.

Congrats to the Coaching staff and players on the Rocks on a successful season. I cannot express enough my pride in the Xavier team, fans, and coaches for 4 years of wonderful memories that came up 32 seconds short. To my son, I love you and you are my champion.

 

Both teams played their hearts out. The game last night stands as a testament to Kentucky high school football. Congratulations Trinity on a hard earned win! You guys are a hell of a team. I wish all the Trinity seniors the best of luck wherever they go from here.

 

Just a word on class-yes there were actions from both sides of the field that could be considered classless. But I think that it is important not to focus on those negative aspects of last night. Both schools must remember last night as the night when the two greatest high school rivals in the nation came together and waged one of the hardest fought battles in the history of the series. We must remember the names of the players and coaches that brought everything they had--and left it all on the field. Let those who lack class suffer the consequences of their faults, but we can not dishonor the legacy of those boys by bringing the focus of last night off of their performance.

 

Jimmyref- I hear you on that one. For the past four years, I have had the privilege to be a part of this X team. I am honored to call every single one of those guys not only my friends but my brothers. I hope they know how proud every member of the St X community is of all of their achievements on the field, in the locker room, in the classroom, and in the community--this team is truly one of the greatest! I want them all to know I would not trade anything in the world (including an alternative ending last night) for the past 4 years they have given to me. I love every single member of that team-they are, and always will be, my boys.

I spoke with someone in the booth last night who watched the vid, it was a fumble (without a facemask, don't know where that came from) but I haven't seen a lot of complaining about it, other than pre-emptive strikes from Trinity fan. It's what it is, there were 20 bads calls in every game this weekend. Some more important than others. The worst call was still not kicking the FG.

 

Vic does have asthma, as do I, and I'll just assume you don't based on that ignorant comment.

 

I know a guy who knows a guy who used to know a guy that said he has absolute proof that it was not a fumble.

 

As for your second paragraph, please go back and read some of your earlier posts. You're pretty good at it too!!!!

First of all, congratulations to Trinity on winning, from what I hear, a fabulously hard fought game. Any time these two teams tangle, spectators always get their money's worth. To the young men of the St. X. team, hold your heads high. You have had a superb season, and the final score of last night's game does not detract from the admiration the Tiger fans have had and continue to have for you. The sun always rises tomorrow. :thumb:

No...their leader and coach would've had a broom and umbrella in tow. While I don't condone what you "say" some of our players did, I know that it is not tolerated by our coaches, faculty, or staff. If caught they will be dealt with accordingly.

 

That stuff in September was brought to the field by a student and yes Glaser joined in. I wish I had a camera last night as I was watching this happen.

We all get caught up in the things that our kids do. We try to let them live our dreams for us. I thank you for what you said to your son. I said and felt the same way last week when we lost to your team. I think the some in the world do not tell their kids enough how much that they are loved.

Tell your son congrads from Meade co. and thank X for the hospitality that they showed the Greenwave last week.

I think we all need to remember that this is a high school game with amazing history....let's try to keep it that way. The childish remarks are not needed about either school. I say this because I saw things last night from both sides that I will never forget. I can say that I am shocked that some people can't win or lose with class (and no this is not directed at T/X players or coaches).

I have seen NOTHING derogatory directed at the school, players, or fans. Bottom line: Your coach needs to learn how to lose with grace and dignity. This whole "We win, we are better than you" "We lose, we are still better than you" stuff gets old.

After watching the replay I will agree the Phillips run late in the game could have been a fumble - I will also say the video was "inconclusive" and in my opinion the ruling on the field stands...As far as Coach Glaser - I think he is a fine man who always seems to say the "right/wrong" things (depending on your allegiance)to agitate many Rock faithful - Most of the criticism stems from his continued denial when he is beat. You cannot argue with Glaser's success, however his antics with the Broom/Umbrella while meant to be humourous were really below the standards he is trying to set at St. X. There was mention of student misbehavior on the thread by Trinity students for that I am disappointed as I was when I personally witnessed misbehavior from St. X students.

 

Both schools are class organizations - to the St. X seniors my best wishes to you in the future for the the other Tigers better luck next year...
