Terrible and embarrassing loss no matter how you put it.

Michigan was Top 5 in country and lost to a lower division school.

UK was not top 20 and Gardner Webb is D1.

Forde is off base.

UK was 22.....GW was 300....they are Div 1 simply because there isn't a 1-AA.....this is far worse...but if UK goes on a run like Michigan has, they can get a 2-3 seed.

Football and Basketball are much different IMO. Every year we see a school like that upset a team in a major conference.

shocking? sure. No way is it as shocking as UM though.

1st year coach, barely top 25, obvious deficiencies on the roster, etc. Not the case with Michigan.

Agreed bigtime. It takes a lot more to upset in 11 v 11 than 5 v 5.

Hey guys.. in 2005 North Carolina lost to Santa Clara early in the season. I wonder how that North Carolina team ended up that season? :sssh:

You really want to go there??? (please say yes) :jump:

Rick Scruggs is a pretty darn good coach

Not really because I know UNC was missing KEY players in that game.. but I just wanted to throw that out there. :walk:

For example...

An example of what?

I disagree with Forde.

Upsets are much more common in this nature in hoops than in football.

This loss was not Chaminade and Virginia. It was very surprising yes.

Football you have more sheer numbers...and the numbers were heavily slanted in UM's favor.

Just my opinion.

I think he's way off, GWebb stunk in '06 but it's a new season, upsets like this are becoming more common in NCAA hoops. The football upset was something you rarely ever see, IAA teams may be able to hold their own now and then but to win on the road in the Big House is unbelievable.

You guys can paint this anyway you want....but this is way, WAY up there in the GREATEST upsets in college basketball history....that can not be avoided at this time.

I agree but the question was compared to the Michigan football game and I still say it will be remember much more than this loss. Maybe not if football played 30 games a season, but in ten years it will be talked about much more.

I disagree. A loss this early in the season doesn't rank up there with anything. The greatest upsets in college basketball history occur in March. I'm sure all non-UK fans would like to paint it as the greatest loss in the history of college basketball, but that just isn't the case.:thumb:
