Pat Forde UK Loss to GW was more shocking then App St beating Mich

A loss is still a loss, even worse it was to the Spider Webb. However, with earlier start times of the season, it may be a blessing in disguise for this team not to go up to MSG and be backhanded by better teams, but stay at home and work on the basics.

Yeah...UCONN doesnt look to be that great as they just got by Morgan State.

If I was BCG I would have practiced after the game last night. These players need to buy into his system!

I disagree, due to the fact that the parity in college basketball is so much greater than in football. Football is getting there, but not quite at the level basketball is at.

Parity might be greater, but App St has a solid football tradition at their level. G-W didn't get double digit wins last season.

And claiming that because G-W is in the same division is silly. They're in the same division only because the division is about three times larger.

His argument that he laid out for this after the game is pretty solid:

Michigan was Top 5 in country and lost to a lower division school.

UK was not top 20 and Gardner Webb is D1.

Forde is off base.

I agree. While this was a shocking loss, ... it doesn't compare to the Appy State over Michigan upset. Now if Pikeville would have upset UK, then yet, ... I would agree that the loss would have been more shocking.

UConn was horrible last year. They barely made the BE tournament and had no post season.
Not as important because the lost to App State removed Michigan's hopes for any national title.

KY could still, technically, win the national title.

Agreed. This game was huge for GW because it could be a game that gets them in the tourney if they come in second in the league.

For UK, other than a missed trip to NY, no consequence. It will be much more important how they perform in the league and in their matchups with UNC, Louisville, etc.

If this loss is a springboard to improved practice, habits and play, then it was a good loss.

This game wont matter if UK makes it to the Sweet 16

Yes it will....UK won the national title in 96 and everyone wanted to know why they lost to UMASS and Miss State.

Gardner Webb as a bubble team? Two bids for the D2 foster home? It's getting deep in here...

No consequence?

I'm sorry, but a team that can be BLOWN OUT by G-W can be beaten by anyone on the schedule. If Kentucky is fighting on the bubble, this is a very bad loss.

They are D1 aren't they? In theory, say they go 25-2 or better losing their conference tourney. This game would put them in.

Do I watch much basketball outside of UK? Seriously?

.......hold on........

................trying..............

Forde covering UL and UK probably made this more of a shock to him. Let's be honest and say that anyone on this years schedule can beat UK if they don't come with total effort every game. So saying that; I thought the Appy State win was more of a surprise. Did I expect us to beat GW, yes. Am I shocked we got beat, no. Heck I was there the night Rondo hit a turn around fader to beat some team from Florida by 3 and that team was supposed to be the second coming.

Just for fun, what can you tell me about the D1 history of a good number of A-Sun teams? Lipscomb? USC Upstate? North Florida? Kennesaw State???
