I hope 4+.... these two have the potential to create a very competitive and beneficial rivalry.

This was the worst game JC has played in the Matney era.

 

3 turnovers didnt help the cause any either.

 

Plenty of mental mistakes, too, that don't show up in the turnover stat.

 

Muffing the kickoff. Watching a punt roll by to the 10 yard line. Taking a knee on the 1 yard line on a kickoff. Unforced fumbles on first down that set us 2nd and 14. These are mistakes a team cannot be making in the tenth game of a season if that team expects to win football games.

Another couple stats of interest:

 

Dustin May ran for well over 125 yards, TD

Ivan Lee had 76 yards, TD

 

These two have became quite the duo in the backfield, factor in the different looks you get with Hickman, Dotson, Varney, and Lovern and this Pirate backfield can hurt you in a number of ways and styles. Of course, Lee and May prefer the "run over top of you style".

You hit the nail on the head...

 

Except that fumble on first down definately was a Forced Fumble, Randy Webb nearly tackled the entire Eagle backfield whiel Ratliff was going through his progressions.

I know that it seems that way now and having been a player and coach sometimes bad things begin happening and they start to grow like a snowball rolling down a mountain and before you know it a game is over and you can't go back. The good thing about this loss for Johnson Central is that it happened in the regular season and to a non-district opponent. At least the Eagles still have life and can learn from the game.

Good: Recovered an onside kick, gained what could have been a huge roughing the kicker penalty thanks to nice acting by Grimm when he felt contact, Belfry's excellent punt returners never had a chance.

 

Bad: Failure to field a squib kick that Belfry recovered, bobbled probably every kickoff, never even tried an XP or Field Goal, Grimm slipped fielding a kickoff and took a knee on the one yard line that directly led to a Belfry TD (and if he may have even stepped out fot eh back of the endzone on the punt, but it wasn't called).

 

Special teams really was a much bigger negative than a positive for the Eagles.

Special teams will get you beat in the playoffs. I can't see special teams getting any better for them at this point.....

What an AMAZING game... My Pirates were fired up tonight.. Dustin was HOT.. I think JC underestimated Belfry. I think that JC was way OVERRATED.. Everyone was saying they were gonna beat us by 5 TDs. Whatever. NOONE will beat us by 5 TDS. Everyone talked about how GREAT JC was... I wasn't really impressed tonight... They got lucky in the 4th and got a couple passes in.. Most of JC's completions in the 1st half was to us... LOL It should have been 28-0.... Bring on the playoffs...

First of all I would love to know where you get your information! Yes we got outplayed tonite and hats off to Belfry. No excuses here but it is very HARD to win AT Belfry. I would love to know who said we would win by five touchdowns? I was just hoping to stay close and play a solid game which we did not. I guess we got lucky on all those passes. What did JK have? Over 200 yards? I guess everyone on the defense fell down espicially on that 73 yard touchdown where Ian jumped over the db and outran the defense. :laugh: Good luck to rest of you well classed Belfry fans!! Met some great people tonite that really love football and do not trash other teams.

I just got back from the game and this is the best high school complex I have ever been to. But what a long drive from Ashland.

 

Now for the game, Belfry is a very, very good ball team. IMO, they controlled the game from start to finish. I dont see anyone beating them unless a good passing team comes in and they could be competive.

 

I was standing on the sidelines and JC coach came over to the some of the fans during a break and told the fans that he appriciated everyone coming out and said that the team will play better next week - I thought that this ws very classy but I dont know if he would of said anything to us if he knew we were Ashland fans.

So Belfrey beats Johnsonville Central handily, Johnsonville Cent beats Central and Central plays the pants off Highlands tonight. Looks to me like Belfrey has established itself as a clear favorite but Central sure seems capable of beating anyone when they are on.

I don't think anybody in this 5A District has forgotten about Woodford County.

 

But you've got to be kinding with your spellings in the last post. Now I want to be politically correct when saying this its JOHNSON CENTRAL and BELFRY.

 

I'm sorry if I've offened anyone by making that correction, but the school names are in the title of the thread and should be easy enough to repeat.

I think Johnson Central was exposed as simply a pretender tonight. The team that had beaten them earlier, Woodford County was spanked tonight by Meade County 28-7. Johnson Central is a decent team in their class, no more, no less with no shot at a title.
