I'm pretty sure we had over 50 yards rushing. Our best back had more yards in one play than yours had for the entire game. And at no time did coach Hager and Matney reach an agreement to play. If Matney is telling you they did then who will you trust someone being investigated by the KHSAA or a coach with a spotless record.

As for the quality of losses SC lost to Belfry and Bell Co. JC lost to Belfry and Woddford Co. I'm sure Woodford is just as good as Bell. Please......... Grimm and Dials are too completely different type of backs. Grimm gets most of his yards outside or once he gets his shoulders turned up field where he has explosive quickness. Dials relies on his strength and breaking tackles at the LOS. Grimm only had one chance to show his dangerous side on about a 15 yard scamper off the quick pitch on the first scoring drive.

OK, first and foremost I want to give JC some credit. The Eagles never quit, and showed a lot of heart not only in the 4th Quarter to attempt a comeback, but in the second quarter when they held Belfry scoreless. JC just happened to run into a buzz saw that played very poised, focused football tonight.

 

Ian Welch is a ballplayer folks, without a doubt the best WR I have seen this year, and also made numerous touchdown saving tackles on defense. Dials was tough on defense as well.

 

Now for the Pirates!

 

First and foremost, what a run defense! JC held to 40 rushing yards, of that nearly half came on a Grimm run late in the game. Belfry absolutely ate up the Eagle's ground game with their quickness, Cory Coleman, Charlie Dotson, Hickman, Lee, and May were everywhere, and when they committed to a tackle ti was lights out.

 

Belfry all in all played excellent pass defense until they seemed to lose their focus with the 28-0 lead. Ratliff was 7-24 for 209 yards, 3 INT, and 1 TD.... the majority of his completions were under serious pressure and were just heaves down the field that the receivers made great plays. Lots of small details with the pass defense that needs to be corrected though.

 

The Pirate line was dominant. The backs ran hard. And as I stated, special teams played a huge role in this game's outcome.

 

As soon as anyone knows about Andrew Elkin's injury please let us know. The kid played a fantastic, poised game. The Eagles couldn't stop the Pirate offense with Elkins under center, his play fakes, game management, and ability to pass makes Belfry as dangerous as they are on offense, also, it's no surprise that Welch started making big plays once Elkins (Belfry's best cover corner) left the game. The score was 28-0 very early in the 4th when he went down, I personally would have been playing him myself as the game was far from over.

 

Charlie Dotson played another stellar game on both sides of the ball. This kid is like a heat seeking missile on defense, and his ability to run the ball at FB and move May to HB makes Belfry ten times tougher to game plan against.

 

All in all... great performance by the Bucs tonight, still some small things that can be nitpicked, but the Pirates proved they are a VERY good team.

 

JC did not show up to play tonight and Belfry has a very good football team. This will be good for JC in the future. It will show them they have to forget the all the ratings and press and show up ready to play when they are on the road and in a very hostile enviorment. I may be the only one on here that thinks so, but JC has played an impossable schedule and this will help them go deep into the playoffs. How much harder can it be to play an opponent on the road such as Belfry?

 

For all the Nathaniel Dials critics on here he proved you all wrong last night. Dials is a D1 player if I ever saw one. He totally dominated last night and was heads above any one on the field. Does anyone know if there were any scouts at the game last night?

Actually, for my money Dustin May was the most dominant player on the field at both RB and LB... but Dials was indeed a VERY good defensive player who came up with numerous big plays when they needed them.

I have to say, of the several sites I read, talk from everybody, AND not to mention the game I watched last night, this is the first I've heard about JC not showing up to play :creepy:

They are a good team, they played ball, they NEVER gave up, if they hadn't have played with heart till the end, they wouldn't have scored the 12 points in the 4th. If anyone became lax it was Belfry with that 28-0 lead plus an injury or two. Good game JC!! Belfry is just that good and have been all year. UNDEFEATED :fire:

 

This is the first game our 2nd and 3rd string didn't get in and there were a couple of games we had freshman playing in the 2nd and 3rd quarter! For a few min I thought they just might play a min or two in the 4th but.... anyway :banana:

 

We just have to keep it up for playoffs anything can happen on any given night even to the best of us!!

Its interesting to me that there are not many Breathitt County posters around. Especially with a 10-0 record and the playoffs starting!

I agree with you, Dustin May is a very outstanding player on both sides of the ball. I think this will show players from Eastern Kentucky have talent and can suceed at the next level. I look forward to McCoy Hatfield Bowl this year. Can you see Dials and May at linebackers on that team!

In my opinion, JC has played much better this year. Take the JC turnovers out and this would have been a very different game. Belfry made JC pay for thier mistakes. JC regrouped and played hard in the 4th quarter. Belfry is an outstanding football team and should hang up another State Title. Very good football game. Both schools should be complemented for playing each other. More big time Eastern Kentucky schools should have the backbone to play Belfry and JC in the regular season. I would like to see Bell County line up with these two teams. This game could be the start of the biggest rivalry to be played in the hills for a long time.

Yeap, thats him. He's also the one that didn't miss a tackle on defense! Dials will go to a D-1 school for defense, not offense, and I dont think he will have a problem with that.
