Great job Tigers!! Jay Hayden, Devontae Beach and Lamont McMurray turned in their usual lightning and thunder performances on the ground. Bickel, Spalding and Albanese led the defense. Central fought hard, played disciplined defense, gave up nothing easy. Tigers finish 9-1, undefeated against Kentucky competition.

:dancingpa CONGRATULATIONS BABY BENGALS!! :dancingpa

Coach McCue and his staff did a fabulous job in developing some marvelous talent into a very cohesive team. That makes four straight undefeated seasons for St. X. at the Freshman level against teams from Kentucky. If you count the six straight victories at the end of the 2003 season, the Baby Bengals have now won 42 in a row against Bluegrass opposition. Their only two defeats during this period have come against Cincinnati Moeller in both 2006 and 2007.

The future definitely looks brilliant for the Varsity Tigers for the next few years! :thumb:

The running game was strong as always and I was also glad to see a passing attack. Several long passes were "Just out of the reach of ..." and the last was a 33 yard completed pass.

Congratulations on a very good 1st season!

Keep up the hard work and good luck next year! :thumb:

Did Central play their JV team? Often they would bring Fr, So, and some Jr's when they played Trinity's Frosh in the past.

Not sure. Looked like fewer numbers(circa 25-30) for Central's freshmen team compared to what they brought to the JV game Monday (30-40). The big running back for Central's JV, #23, wasn't there. I suspect he was getting ready for varsity action.

Central did have a number of players at the Freshman game who had also participated in the JV game last Monday, but I cannot say what class they were. The Yellow Jackets had some large linemen, and excellent speed at the skill positions. They were a tough egg to crack and were well coached. They will be a power in 3A for years to come. :thumb:
