If Holmes beats CCH and Scott loses to Dixie then goes to 3 way tie breaker which is number of wins by teams they have beaten.

Offensively, Dixie started the night with the offset line (finally!!). They took advantage of their size and ran right at Holmes breaking off big chunks of yards. Bricking then drops back and throws a strike to #5 (Palmer or Miller, can't remember who's who). Holmes takes over and scores. Dixie gets the ball back and goes to the spread. Why? I have no clue. Holmes has too many athletes and speed in the defensive backfield and it showed. It allowed them to drop a safety or two back to sit and read Bricking's eyes. I can't recall the order of the events, but Dixie struggled going in the spread for a few series and threw another pick. They also had a few drives that were under a minute in total time. And Holmes scored again during this span. They finally go back to the offset line before the half, but then try to run outside, which wasn't very successfull. They went in down at the half. In the second half, they went with the offset line and ran up the middle. Again, getting huge chunks of yards. It setup a pretty play action pass to Detmer for a touchdown. The offset line allowed the receivers to be in man-to-man coverage with a smaller DB on Detmer most of the time. Holmes scores again, and when they line up for the extra point, the holder is setup on the wrong side. The kicker didn't know what to do, so he moved to his right to act like he miraculously became a left footed kicker. It should've been a sign that it was a fake, but Dixie didn't read it (or tackle) and Holmes got the 2. Dixie then marched down the field with runs up the middle to cut the lead to 7. Dixie then held Holmes and got the ball back with 5:20 in the game. Spritzky went into panic mode and started passing again (granted, the penalty on 2nd down didn't help, but there's no reason for them to pass on 1st). 3 and out, and Holmes got the ball left. They got a first down, and I left. Apparently, they scored again.

 

Defensively, no-one could wrap up, and they didn't stay with their assignments. Palmer and Miller made them look silly. They got Holmes in so many 3rd and longs and couldn't stop them. Some huge passes kept the chains moving. Holmes had nearly 250 yards at the half. They easily ended up with 400+ yards for the game.

Correct was thinking that before tonight's game. Either way Holmes Needs to win or Dixie lose.

I hope the 2 boys carried off the field tonight will be OK. However, it didn't look very good for either one.

Holmes punted to Dixie with 1:50 left. Bricking threw INT to Michael Covington he ran it back for the score, giving him 3 TD's on the night. Palmer 1TD, C. Riley the other.

Wow...never thought I would see this.

Dixie abandoned their run game too early.

They got it rolling in the third quarter but started back to throwing the ball.

Give Holmes and Coach Lickert and staff a lot of credit, they had kids dropping like flies and their replacements stepped up.

Miller is fun to watch...had to be his best night throwing the ball.

He had quite a few huge 3rd down passes. They were backed up inside their own 10 and he throws a deep ball down the sideline with a lot of air and their receiver came down with it, for about a 50 yard gain...Palmer had a few nice receptions to.

The Holmes backs ran hard and you could see a disparity in speed once the Holmes kids made it through the line...

Would love to see the final stats...Holmes racked up some serious yardage.

You have a great group of players at holmes that believe in you and it shows.

SK did the same type of thing briefly last week against the Dogs. Eventually they opened the passing game by pounding the ball again in the 2nd half. Big win for Holmes, has to be one of the bigger upsets in the state this week.
