From CCH, and my memory only goes back to around 1993-1994, so I'd have to say

 

Top 5 in no particular order:

 

Jeremy Madden('98)-tough, hard nosed kid

Cole Chadwick('01)-career yards record holder, stepped up big sophomore year after Madden graduated.

Galen Healy('95)-God rest his soul, but he was a tough little back too

Mitchell Jobe(?)-just remember his name pretty well

Rick Hornsby('70?)-was too young too remember, but his name was/is all plastered over the record books, and heard he was a beast. Great guy and great teacher too.

 

I am far from being too young to remember Rick, and IMO I think he is/was the best RB in the history of CovCath! You younger Colonels need to be reminded that Rick played when CovCath wasn't the CovCath that you all know today, but was a brand new program just starting out. We never did in those years take baby steps, but starting running from the very beginning, and Rick was a prime reason for the Colonels starting out so strong. Young Colonels, learn from the past, to move forward in the future, as just like today, we back then, had a "With a spirit, that will not die" attitude....

I would have to say that Josh Gross was the best Running back to ever play at Russell. Kasey Clark right behind Gross.

 

I couldn't argue with those two but I would say that Mike Jones deserves mention, he is the best that I have ever seen at Russell. :thumb:

Great back with a ton of great numbers, and Danville records. However, I don't think he was quite as good as the other three I mentioned. It's just my opinion for whatever that's worth. Glad to hear he is having a positive career at Marshall though.

If the Birds went with a 3 back set, I would go with Larry Oberding at Fb, Justin Frisk at Tb, and Jordan Kramer at the wing... what a combination of running backs! :thumb:

 

Dave Druck was a thing of beauty to witness as a running back. He was about 6' 5" tailback for the birds with a straightup running style with great speed. Truely, a north and south type of runner from Mike Murphy's I-set era...

Daniel Morrison and Charlie Siffel are 1/2 on the career list in Independence. I wasn't fortunate enough to see Charlie play but from what I've heard he was very good. I coached DMo and the kid was electric, once he hit the open field he was as good as gone.
