  1. The team that ended the streak was Danville. Their first loss in 4 years was against the little 1A school down the road.
  2. I would say Danville definitely could not beat NCC right now. The coaching staff will do a good job or preparing them for each playoff game, but they are definitely not a great team compared to past Danville teams. With the regular season ending loss, and a week off to think about it they should come out and play with something to prove in the early part of the playoffs. But who knows what goes on in the minds of 14-18 year old boys.
  3. Great back with a ton of great numbers, and Danville records. However, I don't think he was quite as good as the other three I mentioned. It's just my opinion for whatever that's worth. Glad to hear he is having a positive career at Marshall though.
  4. Tough question for all of the great backs that Danville has had. Most people who have been keeping up with the program for years will say Chris Jones. You also have to throw in Jimmy Baughman and Donnie Redd in the conversation. All GREAT running backs.
  5. I don't remember playing HHS in the regular season. I could be wrong though. I know we beat them in the playoffs in 86 in 2 or 3 overtimes, then the crazy stuff happened at Belfry. I thought the St. X game was the first game of the season, but I could be wrong. I know it was the only loss, and it was a bad one.
  6. Hatz. You are correct. That was a bad loss to St. X. LIke 42-0. The next year with a far inferior team to the 87 squad Danville only lost 13-7 (Harp's first year in Danville) in Louisville. OK, I want to say it was 8'5 and '86 that we lost to them home and away. Both were single TD games I think. It was when they were AA and we were AAA if I remember correctly.
  7. I'm pretty sure they won both of these games. I want to say it was 86 and 87. Perhaps our only loss in a championship year in 87. Great game in 86 as I remember. Down to the wire. Haven't heard much about them since the early 90s.
  8. Thanks. Gotta run out. Pull em through Admiral. You 'da man.
  9. Wow. He isn't normally our biggest rusher is he?
  10. Sounds like we are playing well? I'm just checking in.
  11. I really don't see how you can't say it's Michael Bush. The thread is the most dominant FOOTBALL player. Not the best QB, or the guy on the best teams ever. BTW, for those of you who don't know, football is the GREATEST team sport ever. Teams win championships. Players don't win them singlehandedly. I hate that argument. I hate the Dan Marino argument. "Well he never got a ring, so he can't be the best QB ever". Why? What's that got to do with anything. Anyway, back to Bush. I saw him play in the 4A title game as a sophomore, and he was clearly the most dominant player on the field that day. Especially on D. He had a couple of pics, and owned his half of hte field. He was the best receiver too on the same team that had Mr. Everything Montrell Jones (a senior at the time) who played for UT. This is how you quantify a dominant FOOTBALL player. Bush could have been first or second team all state at 8 or 9 positions on either side of the ball. That's right. No other player in the history of the state comes close. Think about it. QB, RB, WR, TE, SS, FS, ILB or OLB, CB. If he beefed up I could see him being a great DE. That is AMAZING, and no other player ever has or will ever be able to say that. Probably could have gone pro in about 5 different positions if he prepared his body to be in that specific range and shape (Safety, OLB, QB, WR, RB). I truly believe that.
  12. The only problem with this statement is that Jeff Duggins actually won Mr. Football. The thread clearly states "Best players to never win Mr. Football"... I would say Derek Smith (stiff competition that year), Chris Redmon, Donnie Redd, Chester Ford (probably the biggest rip off in the voting ever), and Shelton. It seems like the Danville players were both victims of poor choices by the voters. They were clearly the best players in the state in their respective years. The other guys I have listed were just victims of being up against other great Mr. Football winners in their class. Unfortunate for them. I believe Danville has had 7 Mr. Football finalists without ever winning the award. I don't think there is another school that can say that. Maybe there is some sort of central KY/small conspiracy :scared: OOOOOOH A conspiracy. Can this thread handle it???
  13. Hatz, are you sure it was only 17 games? I was thinking it was more like 19 with a couple of playoff games (1994 and 1995) during a 17 year span (1980-1996) to add a couple extra to the streak.
  14. I'm looking forward to hearing about Grey's successes this year. I played in the same backfield with his daddy. Guess that's making me pretty old. Wow. I think Macon could be the biggest recruiting prospect out of Danville since Chester Ford. With his tools, at this age, schools have to be drooling. Hopefully he can get his head on straight. I know Chester had his off the field issues when he was a younger guy too, but at least he was intense and about business on the field and in the weight room. I hear this kid also has issues concentrating on the practice field. I hope he realizes what kind of opportunity he has, and takes it.
  15. Congrats Clay! Get yourself prepared to take over for Sam when he hangs 'em up... On a serious note, I wish him the best of luck, and I am sure he will be successful.
  16. It will be good to get this rivalry going again. When would Danville and Corbin meet in the playoffs if they both kept winning.
  17. Is Corbin returning a ton of talent from a decent team last year? I don't remember anything great out of them from last season. Just curious, because I don't know. And, whoever said Danville returns everyone is way off base.
  18. What he said. I didn't say it. I think people are just listing speed as one of Danville's strengths. I don't know who will win this game, because I haven't seen NCC play one down. Speed will more than likely be an advantage for Danville if they do win. It usually is.
