I would add Jay Gilliam in the 70's, and agree Matt Quinn the Best overall!

 

I thought of Jay, and Jay was tough. He did the little things, like block, hit and lead. But Jay didn't get as many yards as Kip Smallwood (1,000 yards in 1976) or score as many TD's as Mike Hilbert. But on guts, Jay would be on the list. :thumb:

Pete Venable and James Fletcher are the two I remember.

Lincoln Adams was another great running back for bellevue

 

Lincoln Adams had a phenomenal Sr. year and can be compared to Brad Hissong as similar type runner with sprinter speed. However, I still put him behind Sutkamps and Brad as the aforementioned took their teams to state Championships and runner up finishes.

I saw Regan in the 2002 State Title game vs. Boyle. I have seldom seen a tougher runner, pound for pound, anywhere. If he had been bigger he would have been all-world. As it is, he would have to settle for just being Great. :thumb:

Mayfield.......the best I ever saw play........Mikey Bright.....he didn't run around people, he ran through them......he was in the state record books for touchdowns in a season, but Im not sure if he is in it anymore.......

 

Mikey was a better LB than RB, but, what made him so good was his ability to also catch the ball out of the backfield and make big plays in that way..I always felt he would have been a great college WR because of his height and good hands...

 

I don't think Mikey was as good as Marcus Moss, from 78-80 or John Redd from 79-81 or Danny Fisher from 74-75...These would have to be mentioned in there as well...Danny Kirby, early 90s, William Murrell, early 90s, Terrell Starks, 94-97, Robert Mayfield, early 70s....I'm sure there's more, just can't think of any other really great backs, off the top of my head, right now...

What about Tom Groeshen????? He was a pretty good back....:ylsuper:

And an outstanding man to boot........and I am proud to call him (even though he is a cake eater through and through) my good friend.

Coached both of them and they were very good, but they would've had a hard time starting for Frankfort back in the 70's.
