Arroyo had one of his best games of the season, by the way, and it may be that Saltalamacchia is about to become an everyday player.

July 19, 200719 yr So from everything we have heard since all the trade rumors started, that the Reds are asking for a lot, if not TOO much in regards to trading away some of their better players. Now with some of the talent on this team, there is no way you can get enough back to match what you are giving away, BUT I wonder if everything that happened last year is impacting ANYTHING that happens this year. Looks like the front office is going to make sure they do NOT get raked over the coals again with any trade made this year.

July 19, 200719 yr Boo. You absolutely don't believe that, McCann is scuffling and Johnson is punch-and-Judy. Come on LRCW... Petey Mack took out Dunn WAY too early and was lucky to escape (IMHO) with poor bully choices in the 15th. I do agree that Petey Mack took Dunn out way too early, but I have no problem with him leaving Gosling in to pitch the 15th. Rt. handers usually hit rt. handed pitching a lot better than most lefties hit lt. handed pitching. I think it would have been pretty much a wash whether Jones and Francouer faced Burton or Gosling. Gosling on the other hand would have fared much better against the Braves lefties than Burton would have. Add to the fact that Burton has a propensity for wildness, and I think leaving Gosling in was the best move.

While the Brewer trade is being discussed (per a member of the ownership group), I still ultimately think (as I've said on here 1,387 times) Dunn isn't getting traded. July 19, 200719 yr Going into today Dunn has "Created" 94 runs (RBI + Runs - HR) and Griffey has created 93. That is a nice little combo through 94 games. "Runs created" has many variations. Yours is the most common. However, many geeks have developed formulas that measure "runs created" and here is the one http://www.hardballtimes.com uses: Runs Created. Invented by Bill James, RC is a very good measure of the number of runs a batter truly contributed to his team’s offense. The basic formula for RC is OBP*TB, but it has evolved into over fourteen different versions. We use the most complicated version, which includes the impact of hitting well with runners in scoring position, and is adjusted for ballpark impact. Their's is more of a true measure of offensive contributions - keeping innings going by getting on base, for example combined with power numbers. Griffey has 64. Dunn has 58. RP has 54.
