July 19, 200719 yr Sorry to burst your bubble HSSB but Howard was hurt a good portion of the start of the season and was on the shelf for about a month. Really? I had no idea he'd been on the DL.... That affects the percentage of the time he strikes out? I'm not saying that Dunn is better than Howard...clearly. I'm saying they are WAY more similar than most people think. Howard, in spite of LY, will not be a .300 hitter...or even a .280 hitter. He is, like Dunn, a three outcome guy (K, BB, HR). He is a VERY good one, but he is what he is. He also doesn't have the track record Dunn does (let's see Howard hit 40 bombs for 3 or 4 years in a row), but he does have a ton of potential. I like Howard fine, I'm simply pointing out he K's as much, if not moreso, as Dunn. Had he not missed a few weeks he'd be leading the ML's in K's, not Dunn. You know what? Who cares. Howard is a quality major leaguer in spite of the K's and so is #44. That, my friend, is the bottom-line.

July 19, 200719 yr Trade Dunn for less than a proven #1 and you're a moron...period. JMO, but if they don't trade Dunn either this year or next they won't get anything for him. The Reds are not going to spend between 15-20 million a year on anyone.
July 19, 200719 yr The Reds don't have ANYONE ELSE they can bring up for a few days while Harang is gone. Just unbelievable.
July 19, 200719 yr The Reds don't have ANYONE ELSE they can bring up for a few days while Harang is gone. Just unbelievable. True but we may not even see Stone get on the field since Harang will be back for his scheduled start on Monday, looks like a move just to fill a spot for a few days. No reason to bring some one else up for 3 days to mess up Louisville's bullpen rotation and be sent back down when he's not going to stay up anyway.
July 19, 200719 yr The Reds don't have ANYONE ELSE they can bring up for a few days while Harang is gone. Just unbelievable. Is the first one a statement or a question? If I'm a glass-half-full guy, I say that since its short-term (days) why waste a true prospect's options?

July 19, 200719 yr Is the first one a statement or a question? If I'm a glass-half-full guy, I say that since its short-term (days) why waste a true prospect's options? I agree that it's not worth wasting an option on such a short trip, my but goodness, it just seems like this is constantly being done. If he isn't going to even make it on the field, why even put him on the roster for 4 days.

July 19, 200719 yr Just in case:jump: :scared: The Reds have enough "quality" depth at pitching that they don't need another SOLID guy like Stone on the team for 4 days.
July 19, 200719 yr When will Homer be back? How is Josh Ham doing? I thought Homer would be pitching this Saturday, but that spot will be filled again by Livingston. I believe Hobbs was put on the 15 day DL last week, so it could be another week or so before we see him again. Maybe someone else has more information.
