Has anyone done the no carb diet?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about doing it just for 30 days to lose some weight fast.

Anyone tried this?

No, but I have done the Cabbage Soup diet, also known as the Dolly Parton diet, a couple of times. Lost 12 pounds (it's a 7-day diet) once and lost 13 pounds the other time.

Yes, it works if you want to lose weight fast. I lost 20lbs fairly quickly, 6 weeks I think. On the diet I ate wings & ranch, turky, steak, cheese, chicken, omelettes and salads. The diet gets old quick but if you do it short term for a month I would bet you lose 15lbs. Stay strict the first 2 weeks, that is the key.

I would not recommend this diet for long term, ever!

Heck no! How will I ever reach sumo wrestling weight if I go no-carb?

I would recommend the South Beach diet as opposed to the Adkins if you want to go low-carb. It's a much healthier diet and you do lose weight.

My brother did it for a week and got really sick.

On the other hand my uncle did for about a year and lost between 50-60 pounds, and is in the best shape of his life.

I have done it and I strongly discourage it. Besides losing weight, there is nothing natural or healthy about it.

You said you work out, 98. Limiting/eliminating your bad carbs such as breads and pastas, and limiting/eliminating sugars and eating smaller (but more) meals is an almost guaranteed way to effectively and properly lose weight. Do not be in a rush to lose weight... is there a specific reason to lose weight fast other than just wanting to?

Very good advice! Carbs are an essential nutrient. If you get no carbs, the body will go into starvation mode -- and that's not a good thing.

The best way to lose weight is to cut out pop and fast food and stay active. The more active the better. Its no miracle weight loss plan, but its a good life long plan.

new dress:D

Don't do it. It is not healthy.

I lost 35 pounds over a 3-4 month period by cutting out snacks and soda.

I ate CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP for lunch and a normal supper. Weight went off quick. I think the biggest thing was the NO SODA or SNACKS.

You would need to seek help if you even thought about going on a diet.

Low carb is not unhealthy. That's absurd to even say. Low carb meals include chicken and vegetables, you can eat berries, protein bars (southbeach ones are great), cottage cheese, and you stay away from bacon, pork, fatty burgers then it's VERY healthy. It prevents you from eating chips, drinking soft drinks, eating frie food, candy, etc. etc. Low carb does not mean lunch meat, pork grinds, and water.

Low carb is not unhealthy.
LOW CARB IS EXTREMELY UNHEALTHY!!!

This is simply a verified scientific fact. This is even more true when taken to the extreme, or for extended periods. If you want to lose weight, the healthiest (and wisest) thing to do is just eat less; but eat a wide range of good foods. Couple this with some moderate exercise, and you're on your way!
