Has anyone done the no carb diet?

Featured Replies

I have attempted it a few times. The longest I ever went was 3 weeks. I dropped about 15 pounds.

I was getting lightheaded and felt antsy and went to doctor...blood pressure was up and cholestrol was 203. I went on the and returned to docs and saw blodd pressure return to normal and cholesterol dropped some.

Lightheadedness seemed to hang around and it was my allergy medicine, causing the issues.

I have had a few friends do it and lost substantial weight.

Im just not disciplined enough to stay with it. What is the saying about diets? They all fail?

I need to do something but it is hard...wife is 34 weeks pregnant and I get mine plus leftovers...

Trying to incorporate walking and some exercise which is the key.

Lastly, I have had a friend who eliminated all "white" food from their diet and lost weight. Eliminated rice, bread, potatoes (some will tell you a potato has no nutritional value whatsoever), pasta, and exercised and lost weight.

I haven't had a soft drink in over a year. And NEVER eat fast food.

I'm very active.

Then you can't be overweight, unless you have the worst metabolism in history, or eat 8 non-fastfood meals a day, or drink a case of beer a day, or all of the above...;)

I'm not overweight. I would just prefer to lose about 15 pounds.

I'm 5'11, 190. I'm not fat, but certainly not skinny.

98, you shouldn't be striving to lose weight. As you become fit, you (obviously) develop muscle. Muscle weighs more than fat. Your goal shouldn't be about the pounds. Your goal should be about your body fat percentage, and your level of fitness.

Doing any quick fix diets could cause you to lose the 15lbs, but at what price? You could gain it all back and more when you're done.

Also, losing weight should never occur quickly. That's not good. The chances are keeping it off are minimal. You should strive to always eat healthily, andif losing weight no more than ~2 lbs a week.

98, in all honesty, you sound healthy, fit and have a good regimine already. Why not stick with that?

I went on that diet once, lost 25 pounds very quickly and gained 30 back.

In the last four months, I decided on a "life style change" I promised myself to never diet again. I cut way back on the fried foods and sweets and exercised more. I also added more fruit and veggies. Lost 20 pounds so far and feel really great. Yes, I certainly have those pig out days, but if I add an extra work out session in, that usually takes care of things.

I would strongly recommend to others to stop dieting and take better care of themselves overall. Your body will thank you for it.

I recommend Weight watchers point system. My Wife as been doing it and She has lost over 20lbs.She did not do it overnight and thats ok because Time moves faster than we think it does. I have been doing the point system on my own for about 5 weeks and I have lost around 15 lbs.Its all about portions and fruits and veggies.:thumb: Oh yea and exercise(Go for a Walk)...

I have been running 2 miles a day on top of working out at night for two months.

As I mentioned above I never eat fast food. I don't drink soft drinks and I don't snack, ever.

And I'm not losing any.

I figured if I do this for a month, lose 10-15 pounds and continue the regimine I'm doing now I will maintain that weight like Iam maintaining this weight.

Is this flawed logic?

As stupid as this sounds, a. You may not be eating enough. B. If you're still running 2 miles after 2 months, it's time to up the intensity. Are you lifting weights? Also, you're a guy, so stop being a girl and looking at the scale. Do the pants test. If your pants fit better, who cares what you weigh?

Google.....Muscle Confusion..

That is the key my friends....believe me I know.

Muscle confusion is picking up steam. For those of you who like alternative workouts and are in good shape try out this website.

http://www.gymjones.com. This is the company that trained the guys for the movie 300 and created the 300 test (by the way, it is not the 300 workout, it was the final test after the guys had trained for over 3 months, Mens Health really gave it the wrong perception.) I bought Kettle Bells a few months ago and medicine balls and I love it. I'm not ripped by any means, but I feel a lot stronger, more flexible, and as athletic as I've ever been.

No i've actually upped my pants size over the past year.

Cutting out carbs is a very bad idea. Instead of running long distances, try shorter, more intense running. You need to eat more often but smaller portions of the right stuff. You should never feel stuffed at any point.

You have to make the distinction between needing to eat and wanting to eat, and train yourself to eat about 6 times a day, so you're never hungry, but aren't full of bad foods.

The eating part is supposed to be hard for the first few days and they your stomach adjusts and it gets easier.

Focusing on weight is a bad idea, period. There is no such thing as an idea weight. It's better to focus on as others have said, being in shape and being healthy.

I tried the low card diet back in high school. Between football and no carbs I lost around 20 pounds in a month. I gained 30 back during that summer. My main reason for quitting the diet was my love of bread. I'm the type of guy that eats bread with every meal. I love it. I'm not real sure about the health aspects of the diet but I do know that the weight comes back very quickly once you get off the diet. I guess the diet would be good for someone who was committed to doing it for years and years.

I started a diet 6 weeks ago. No fast food. No soft drinks (an occasional sprite zero every now and then) and plenty of exercise. I keep my calories under 1000 a day. I typically eat noting but vegetables and fruit for lunch then have a normal dinner. I give myself one "free" meal a week where I dont worry about anything. So far I've lost 30 pounds. I'm very happy with it.

I'm thinking about doing it just for 30 days to lose some weight fast.

Anyone tried this?

I am actually doing it right now. I did it while I was in college and dropped 40 pounds like it was nothing. I am now in the 3rd week of this go round. I love it.

Oh, and by the way, contrary to popular belief - it took me 5 years of eating and especially DRINKING anything and everything I wanted before I gained those 40 pounds back.

Under a 1000 calories a day? Im not a doctor by any means and no I didnt stay at a Holiday Inn last night but wouldnt that be a little to low and unhealthy? Just seems like you could hardly eat or consume anything.
