Has anyone done the no carb diet?

Featured Replies

^^Yes. The beer group should never be cut out of one's diet.

I'm thinking about doing it just for 30 days to lose some weight fast.

Anyone tried this?

Go for it. You are going to gain it back if you do.

I don't have a strict diet. I try not to drink very much soda at all, or eat candy or eat fast food. Those are three things that if you cut out of your routiine, you will lose weight. Add in some cardio 3-4 times a week and you will be in shape in no time.

Does this still hold true if Beer hold its position at the top of one's personally crafted food pyramid?

If you do your personally crafted pyramid, utilizing the rationale that Beer is essentially, Barley (grain), water (essential to life), and hops (excercise), you should be in a fine shape soon. :D

Thank you for your words of positive thinking. It's important to have a solid support structure in place when attempting a difficult task such as the diet I have emarked on.

My mom has been doing it for about 3 or 4 years now and loves it.

If your goal is a quick fix, it'll work. It'll just come back like crazy when you go back to eating like normal. Do the tried and true 6 meals a day and exercise. You may have to run too ;)

You mean exercise and eating in moderation can help you reduce weight??? What a radical idea!

The best way to lose weight is to cut out pop and fast food and stay active. .
I haven't had a soft drink in over a year. And NEVER eat fast food.

I'm very active.

I have been running 2 miles a day on top of working out at night for two months.

As I mentioned above I never eat fast food. I don't drink soft drinks and I don't snack, ever.

And I'm not losing any.

I figured if I do this for a month, lose 10-15 pounds and continue the regimine I'm doing now I will maintain that weight like Iam maintaining this weight.

Is this flawed logic?

Without knowing the specifics of how you work out and the specifics of your diet, I cannot say as to what would help you or not...

I am very similar to you, 98. I spent a year and a half getting into what I consider great shape. I would run 3 miles 5 days a week, lift weights 3 days a week, I too did not eat fast food, and the only soft drinks I consume were of the diet variety (even then not that often). After a while I stopped losing anymore weight and just stayed put (actually put on just a little).

Normal issues that people encounter:

1) Intensity of workout is not what you think it is. Just because you jog a couple of miles a day and lift a few days a week, it does necessarily mean you are intensifying your workout enough. Cut your running down to a mile and substitute sprints in for the other mile. When you lift, rest minimally and alternate a leg and upperbody exercise for your lifts... and do high intensity, lower weights. What is the point in being able to bench 350 lbs (doing 2 reps at 300 lbs or so) at this stage in your life?

2) You may eat relatively healthy, but do you eat the proper things at the proper time? Be sure to constantly keep your body burning calories, whether it be through exercise or eating properly. Cut your meals down to about 1/3 of what you normally eat in one meal, but eat every two hours or so. It is not natural and sometimes tough to prep in advance, but I assure you it works. Your body is like a fire place. To get the best results, you throw a log on every couple of hours. Not five or six logs a couple times a day.

Google.....Muscle Confusion..

That is the key my friends....believe me I know.
