April 3, 200719 yr It constantly amazes me that a segment of the Kentucky fans base that once took everything Pitino said as gospel suddenly wants to disparage everything about him now, simply because he now coaches at Louisville. Pitino has done nothing to earn the ire of UK fans. He did exactly what he said he would do, which was put UK back at the top of the college basketball world ... for that, they owe him gratitude, not disdain. And it isn't as if he bolted Lexington to go straight to Louisville. Circumstances change over time, as it did in the case of Pitino's less than stellar tenure in Boston. Get over it, UK fans ... it's just one more reason the fan base has the reputation that it does on a national level. Or its that he doesn't want to coach and recruit against him. Not everything comes down to UK fans being crazy.
April 3, 200719 yr The BIG difference is-- the situations mentioned didnt happen to a school's top sport AND they did .not go to their most heated rivalI know UK fans think their program is hot stuff, but the Celtics are not UK's top rival. At least the 18% choose another college.:jump:

April 3, 200719 yr I heard from a buddy of mine, that Donovan will be at Marshall on Wednesday. He thinks it a possible speaking appearance or banquet, type of setting.....He's trying to confirm. I don't look for a decision from him, until this weekend and certainly, before April 11th.. Haven't heard about Billy being in Huntington this week, but I have heard that Donnie Jones will be offered the head coaching job at Marshall...

Pitino did what EVERY SINGLE PERSON on BGP would do after the success he had in Lexington - he agreed to a Celtics deal that was too good to turn down. It didn't work out and when he was looking for a new job he took the best available job at the time - University of Louisville. What does this all mean? Pitino was always looking for the "best job at the time" and he always got it. Just because that job isn't UK doesn't mean he's a traitor or turncoat or anything else...it just means he like any other person in the business world.

It must be tough to know that your coach thinks leaving a school, which happens to be your biggest rival, was the biggest mistake of his career. His has stated many times that UK is " The Roman Empire of college basketball" and that he had " Eight years of Camelot". What more do you want than that, it's pretty self-explanatory about his thoughts of UK.
