Pitino also told Florida that Donovan wasn't ready for the job when the Gators plucked him from Marshall ... I assume they're happy they didn't heed his advice.

I find it rather odd that a guy who constantly states that leaving UK was his biggest regret, would rather not have his protege take a job there. Doesn't really make sense.

Doesn't surprise me seeing how RickyP and Billy's friend Tubby was treated by a lot of the UK fans. I'll be extremely shocked if Billy D takes the job.

...

This is my take on Pitino talking to Donovan...

Pitino is telling Billy not to take the UK job...He'd have to compete with Rick, be under constant scrutiny that NOBODY deserves, and have some at Florida feel that he turned their back on them by going to another team in the conference...He's also telling him, "Look Billy, stay in Florida...In 5-7 years, there will be an opening at Louisville, and that will be the job for you..." ;):D:p

Sounds like Pitino is looking out for himself...:sssh:

I've never said so, but I think what Pitino meant was leaving UK for the NBA was a mistake, not necessarily leaving UK...

Please extinguish that torch you carry for Pitino. It makes you guys look desperate. It ain't happening; not with a NC contender coming back at L'ville.

You misunderstood me. I in no way want Pitino back in Lexington. I just think Rick doesn't want to compete year in and year out with Billy.

Yet he continues to call UK the "Roman Empire of college basketball" and "Camelot".

I saw an interview, with CSTV and Pitino, believe it was One2one show and Pitino said (paraphrasing)...."He left UK for Boston, for the money. $55 mil, for a kid where he came from, was a tremendous amount of money.....It was a mistake, leaving UK for Boston".

I believe the interviewer was Seth Davis.

If Donovan accepts the job, it will be his decision and possibly combined, with input from many. He's a grown man now, far removed from the early days.

Yet he continues to call UK the "Roman Empire of college basketball" and "Camelot".

... both of which experienced a tragic fall from grace.

 So true...
