Kentucky Transfer Portal/Roster Tracker 2026

I believe there are some multi year contracts/NIL. As we have seen that in football. The Washington QB tried to enter the transfer portal, but he had a two year NIL contract and Washington was going to take him to court if he left and broke the deal.

We also seen it with the Duke QB who transferred to Miami two months ago. He has a multi year deal with Duke, and so had to work out a settlement type thing for him to be able to transfer.

I mentioned that in an earlier post, same with UC QB.

The amount of people online worked up about this is wild to me. He’s was the third or fourth best player on a team that nobody enjoyed watching go 22-14. Do I trust Pope can find someone better? Not s

Every single person who says the players are paid too much would take significantly more money to continue doing what they already do without hesitating. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.

Well, before you call someone a liar, you need to rephrase your statement.  For me or you to do this, we would have to uproot our family every 4 years.  A whole lot there to consider.

There is only one player off this year's roster that I absolutely want back - Moreno. No one else is special enough for me to be disappointed that they are leaving.

That said, it is a bad look on Pope if he can't keep half these guys. He brought them here. If they don't come back, each one that leaves is a stamp of failure by Pope.

With that mentality, then there are a lot of coaches at different schools are complete failures as well, when they revamp their roster.  I think this is the era we live in, like it or not, it's not a reflection of failure on any coach.

My question is, why aren't there 2 and 3 year deals being done? There is no NCAA provision against it.

Because the inmates are in charge of the insane asylum. The players control the market.  Why play at school A for 3 years when I have a great year, and can get a better deal at school B after that one year?

I would like to see the stats on that. How many players leave and stay on the top teams with no coach change?

I don't know the stats, might be more than you think.

Why every four years?

You said they shouldn't get paid because it's something they would be doing anyway. You and I are already doing our jobs, if someone wants to double our pay, you're going to say no? Stop it.

The kids are making way too much money from something they would be doing anyway.  As I have stated before, they're getting paid in the form of an education.

Let me pull back the curtain for you a little bit. The whole thing has been a scam for decades. There is a reason we are the only country on planet earth with this bizarre university culture masking as a minor league system where 99% of student-athletes earn pennies, while the school earns much more off of them.  The value of the "kids" (I would say, young adults), of playing college basketball at a university far exceeds the value and level of investment of the education they receive at a university. Taking 6 credit hours of online classes ain't exactly priming the next generation for greatness. They're majoring in eligibility, and the highlight of their resume was playing X, not taking Y courses.

I view all of the upheaval right now as a market overcorrection to the inequities that have existed for years.

I've learned not to get too worked up when it comes to recruiting, unless you are on target for one of THE guys. UK is in the hunt for Stokes, but it does not feel promising. That said, aside from Stokes, UK is most likely not going to land any of the top 100 high school recruits in the country (ESPN rankings). I get that relying on Freshmen is not sound in practice, but there has to be some level of development.

You're partially correct, no way you can honestly say NIL isn't a problem.

NIL is only a problem for mid-majors.  When you have the basketball cash UK has, NIL isn’t the problem.

These kids only have 4/5 years to earn this big play money, so to earn the maximum amount you'll have to keep relocating . Hence, kids playing at 3/4 different schools.

I worked for 40 plus years, and not one time did my employer ever offer to double my salary.  How many times have you been doubled?

UK's money sure didn't prove anything this year.
