Just put the 8 biggest schools in one half, and the 8 smallest in the other half.

I like this idea.

Been working fairly well for 50+ years, why change anything?

Tell that to Lyon County 2 years ago.

All seeding does is create bad first round games.

And if you think the crowd numbers are low now, the first round games Wednesday and Thursday in a seeded tournament would be even lower. It would basically be the fans from the schools playing and not much more.

I say keep it the way it is, or go to a class system. The small schools already don't have a chance. This would only make it impossible for them to win a single game.

Eventually, RPI rankings will likely be implemented for seeding. Furthermore, I anticipate these rankings being utilized to seed regional tournaments as well.

Never happen!

I like the sweet 16 format and I hope KY keeps it forever.  However, I believe post season should be seeded starting in the regional tourny's just like football.  Teams playing better schedules should get some type of benefits.

I happen to be a fan of how Ohio does it within each class.  The 16 teams would gather, they are seeded 1-16 (could use Jason's model, or whatever else people decide on), and they take turns placing themselves onto a blank bracket, starting with the 1st seed.  The 16th seed would simply go on whichever line was blank at the end, likely opposite the 1st seed, unless someone else thought they matched up particularly well with them.

This is what I think will happen in the near future. As for football I would not be shocked if they do not start using the RPI sooner than regional championship round.

If KHSAA does start using RPI before round 3 in football...then they are discrediting their district system and thus will have to do away with that...which I don't see happening.

You would have to seed all Districts also, I just don't see it happening.

Didn't they use RPI before round 3 a few years ago and quickly went back to waitibg till round 3?

I don't see why you can't do a hybrid.  Seed the top 4 teams (1 goes in each quadrant of the bracket) and blind draw the rest.

BRILLIANT idea! Best idea yet and a nice compromise!

If you aren’t in one of the Louisville regions,  the NKY region, the Lexington region, or the Bowling Green region, why would you want it seeded?

And if you ARE in one of those regions, why would you not want to be rewarded for playing a tougher schedule?

Jason needs to just report the news, not create it.  The Khsaa would be wise to leave their cash cow as it stands.  They tried the Sunday championship game and see what happened with that plan.  Why mess with tradition?
