I'm just not convinced that the Birds will use their weapons to the fullest extent possible, due to too much  ego and a desire to not appear that online criticisms have caused a change in the play calling.  If they revert to running the playbook from the first several games, they lose.

I’m assuming this is a serious post, and it happens all the time when ego or pride gets in the way. We see it with Mark Stoops every Weeknd. I’m taking the Birds. As long as they stay patient on offense they’ll be fine.

Not sure how a twenty something offensive coordinator has an ego.  More like a lack of experience that rises to the top when the games get tougher.  Question of the week, does Lorenzen have an impact?

Well he touched the ball twice against Harrison Co. last week. Zero rushes and 2 pass receptions.  I am confused by the OC’s game plan.

You must not know many twenty something’s in positions of influence. I don’t know him personally, but have heard from others there’s an unwillingness to listen to other points of view.

That is immaturity and lack of experience.  Handed a job that was not earned.  He is the wildcard in the game without question.

1. What’s Cov Cath's answer to Lorenzen-wildcat pound town?   Johnny Lind and Tucker Evans maybe.

Probably try to shoot gaps and send pressure off the edge to generate TFLs. Cov Cath may get gashed some doing that, but if Highlands is in 3rd and 4th and short all night, they’ll grind out a win with that OL.

I’m hoping that opens up some fake QB run Lorenzen pulls up and passes plays. If Highlands can get that going it could be dangerous. I haven’t seen that really happen yet though.

If he touched the ball against Harrison Co. the score would have been much worse.  Keep him fresh and ready to go for this week is why he didn't is my thought.  Then again just an opinion.

Your opinion was how I predicted last week to go in the Harrison/Highlands thread. I don't think there is much concern in comparing game plans for last week and this week.

I picked Highlands but yeah this is fire.

There is always a ton of energy surrounding this game.  But I see the real chance for some real strategic vanillery  (My made-up word for the day) in this one.   Neither coach wants to show a lot, but both need to win for playoff seeding.  I'm going with a boring game that gets exciting in the middle of the 4th quarter.  The real entertainment will be in the stands until then.

I don't think there are too many coaches hiding much now 6 or 7 weeks in.  Might be a wrinkle or two but this is a big game for home field.  I'd show whatever I had to.

I think the Birds need to play 3 different Qb’s in the first series on offense to try and confuse the Blue Boys!

Highland wears Blue too

How long as Highlands OC been the OC at Highlands? Hasn’t he been the OC ever since Sphire got the Highlands head coach job or am I wrong on that? If so that means he is now in year 5 calling the plays? At some point you can’t call him inexperienced anymore right? Which I think after four years of calling plays, including calling plays in back to back state semifinals means he has experience now, and no longer inexperienced. So I don’t think the inexperienced card fits anymore, now in year 5 calling plays.

I do think Lorenzen has an impact in this game.
