Tanner Robertson (the varsity soccer coach's son and a 4 year soccer letterman) has been handling most of the kickoff duties. He's been kicking a football for like all of 5 or 6 months now, so that considered, getting he's doing a solid job with most of his kicks pinned back inside of the 10. Kickoff coverage has been solid, with Beechwood notably not getting much on kick returns, even with Nathan Pabst and Tyler Fryman back to return. On returns, they've been having Dylan Gaiser handle punt return duties. We've faced at least two (maybe three?) teams who were doing rugby kicks/quick-kicks, so all-tolled he's had to fair catch a lot of punts thus far this season. Gaiser has also been deep on kickoffs, and I believe Zach Brooks, Gabe Weis and Mac Cogswell have all been switching off as the second deep man, but don't quote me on that. Gaiser returned the opening kickoff of the Elder game down to the 3 yard line and I think he had a return for touchdown called back on a holding call behind the play in the Simon Kenton game. We've had another couple of really nice returns out around midfield or further that came back on holding penalties this season, so that needs to be cleaned up. Cogswell also returned one kickoff for a touchdown in the Dixie game.

I think the goal will certainly be to win, but I don't believe the game plan will be altered to get the job done. A classic case of expecting different outcomes by doing the same thing over and over again.

As a fan of this rivalry I am just hoping that we don’t see a vanilla game like 2021’s 8-7 final….  But won’t be surprised if we do.

When you are handed a job that was not earned and don't have the humility to understand that it was not earned, then ego is certainly part of the equation.

But...if you have the solution to the equation before the answer is asked for then it makes you seem just a "Little" bit smarter at the end of the problem.

CovCath defense is only giving up 16pts a game and Highlands is only giving up 15pts a game. It’ll be more than 8-7, but I believe it’ll be a one score victory at least for the Birds, unless the Colonels can get a true passing game going.
