After suffering through 23 straight losses going into this season the Danville Admirals (2-0) find themselves on their first winning streak since October 2022.  Last week the Admirals defeated 5A Fairdale in come from behind fashion 12-10.  Using Trinden Sellers in space and then leaning on freshman Jayvean Meaux in the run game has been big for the Admirals.  Meaux has scored 6 touchdowns for the Admirals this season.  Reducing untimely penalties, which plagued the team last year, has also been an area of improvement.

This week the Admirals encounter another 5A opponent in Anderson County (1-1).  Last week the Bearcats earned a convincing win over Grayson County 33-7, getting them back to .500 after a close 21-14 loss to Washington County to start the season.  Against Grayson, Anderson scored 26 unanswered points to pull away after the first half was tied at 7.  Five different Bearcats saw the endzone last week and the team was praised in local media for its physical play.

Both teams coaches have made it a point to try to turn their respective programs around, so this Friday provides an interesting clash of teams trying to right their ships (no pun intended).  Do the Bearcats get to 2-1 or do the Ads notch another 5A RPI win?

It’s a toss up for me. I’ll pick Danville in a one score game.

Congratulations to Coach Stonebraker, his players & staff on the super job they have done turning around the Admirals. Can’t believe 56 years after my 1st Danville game, get to face the undefeated Admirals @ Bob Ware Field. Thankful to be an old football coach !

I'll take the Ads in a tight one 28-21. 

I think this is where the good feelings come to an end. Unfortunately I think Grayson is probably better than both teams Danville has beat and Anderson got them pretty good. I’m going with Anderson 21-14.

I had Grayson County to beat the Bearcats last Friday and it wasn’t even a contest. I look at this game and see another matchup that could go either way. I don’t think Danville will turn the ball over much and in what I see to be a low scoring grind it out sort of game, I’ll take Anderson County.

Fifteenth meeting between the two schools and Danville has won them all. While the Ads had the most success, Anderson County gave them a ton of trouble in the late-80s and early-90s under Anthony Hatchell. It is wild that they've not played since 1996; glad to see another local rivalry resumed.

Anderson 28-7. Danville has no Passing game and Coach Buchanan will be in that 4-4 defense that will shut down the Danville run game. 

Stoney has Danville finally headed in the right direction.  A loss to Anderson will not change that.  Which is good, because they will definitely lose this game.

Few probably remember but Danville gave Anderson County their only two losses in 1987.  

The Head Coach of the Bearcats then?  None other than Sam Harp.  Yes, that Sam Harp.  So, when Duffy left after that season to go to HHS, the Ads were impressed enough to bring in Harp and the rest is history.  

Anderson by 20+. 

Glad the Bearcats get to play in Lawrenceburg for the first time this year.  Should be a good crowd and great game.  I had no idea that Anderson had never beaten Danville at the varsity level.  Hard to be a rivalry if one team always wins.  Good luck to both teams.
