The Head Coach of the Bearcats then?  None other than Sam Harp.  Yes, that Sam Harp.  So, when Duffy left after that season to go to HHS, the Ads were impressed enough to bring in Harp and the rest is history.  

I was under the assumption Sam Harp was the coach in 1987. No reason to, but just assumed bc he won so much. 
 

Was there a reason he left Anderson Co for Danville besides the name? I know back then Danville was winning games and some state titles, but did he feel he couldn’t achieve the same at Anderson? Just curious is all.

Harp has talked about this in the past, most recently on the great podcast with Chuck Smith and David Buchanan.  He was initially not interested in Danville and rebuffed them several times when they offered him the job.  The Danville superintendent and board members kept coming back to him, though, and eventually convinced his wife that taking the job would be a great thing.  Basically persistence by Danville not to take some initial "no thank you" responses is what got him.  It's an interesting "what if" in the legacy of the program, though.

Ads are very young and are getting better. Discipline and effort is there. I think they are talented enough to make a game of it but Anderson on paper should win by a score or two.

He was the perfect coach to follow Duffy who won 2 titles 

6-0 Danville after one quarter.

Just tuned into the game.  Danville scored but a throw into the end zone for a 2 point conversion was intercepted.

Qb made a great the throw on the touchdown got rid of it as he was being hit.
