Nation’s sack leader right there and they take someone who averaged 1.5 sacks a year.

Lou is a good coach and will land somewhere.  But I agree with him being let go.  The defense was consistently mediocre with flashes of really good play.  That side of the ball here needs a new voice.

From WCPO 9 in Cincinnati.

"We anticipate getting a lot of production out of him," head coach Zac Taylor said after the Bengals picked Shemar Stewart in the first round of the NFL Draft.

This is interesting from CincyJungle.com, Stewart was ranked 18th on the consensus big board:

There weren’t many mocks with Stewart ending up in stripes, but the Bengals brass saw enough in him to invest a premium pick in him. It’s worth pointing out that the consensus big board did have Stewart ranked 18th overall and as high as 12th, so this wasn’t a reach by any stretch. It just wasn’t necessarily a pick on someone you’ll feel confident about making an impact in Year 1.

A friend of mine posted this about Stewart on FB:

He had 39 QB pressures and was rated as the 3rd best edge rusher and 9th overall prospect in this year’s draft class. He could turn out to be a great pick!

I'd like to see it, but I think the Cardinals might take him at 16.  I'm fine with Harmon in that case.

Is Campbell the guy who fell all the way to Philly at 31 (after a trade with KC)?   If so, how do the Eagles keep grabbing these high-end defenders?

Personally, I was hoping for a little more on field production rather than workout numbers and talk of upside through development.  We needed a starter, and I am not sure he starts week one.

I certainly hope that's the case. But it also looks like some of their other picks that produced some but never really panned out like they'd hoped.

So many other pass rushers they should have traded back.

Campbell is coming off shoulder surgery so that's why he slid.

The Bengals are hoping Stewart will be like Danielle Hunter.  He's a guy with 4 sacks in his 2 years as a starter in college, but has almost 100 sacks in his NFL career.  That's what they are banking on.  We shall see.  He did apparently have a perfect 10.00 RAS grade... whatever that is.

Worst tackling team wasted a pick on a guy that can't tackle.

Myles had 32 sacks no comparison.

The issue is once he’s in the backfield he can’t make a play. Hopefully he can get that corrected because I love his intensity.

Bengals up in a few picks. Do they take another edge in Green or take the risk on a top 10 talent in Johnson with injury concerns?

At this point, I'm pretty confident they won't be drafting Johnson.
