An O lineman transfer from OC is now enrolled to bolster that line.  There are rumors that the QB1 at Apollo is awaiting this hire to make a decision about potentially transferring for a title run which would allow Ashley to strictly play LB.

There is a ton of good over on Frederica St. right now.  But the way the admin has handled this is insanely poor.  Zero communication with the players, coaches, and parents.  Total secrecy regarding the process.  

The exits from the program over the last 5 years are concerning.  Crowe, Hunt, Griffith, Bratcher, Maddox.  There are rumors of Morris jumping ship.  Rumors are only that and I don't know the exact situations with their departures but I know they're gone.  There are some strong personalities in that group of parents but there isn't anything wrong with that.  Dealing with parents is part of being the coach and if you can't handle that, then coaching might not be for you.  

Everyone is tired of waiting.  But they need to get it right.  I'm not gonna speculate on who it will be.  I have a pretty good idea of who was interviewed and I have an opinion but hey, we all know what opinions are like.  Whoever it is, their first job is to rally the players around each other, then rally the parents around the players, and rally the rest of the fan base around the entire program.  Let's get it right and take this talent to Commonwealth 10 months from now.

Also we are not making a run for the title this year. We should have done it when we had Gavin and we blew it.

Seems to be that way, which I’m from WKY so I understand my bias. I’ve always believed Rash was an outstanding environment and the crop of players and support from the community is always in abundance, maybe in 2025 that simply just isn’t the case.

We had Jay Fallin on our podcast and were impressed with him. He had the misfortune of his timing as HFC with Bowling Green & Owensboro Catholic being so good. 

You can work like a dog and do an excellent job, but at the end of the day, who you have on your schedule, who you have to beat in the big moments.... you have no control over that.  If you run into a generational team, so be it. 

I believe in time, Coach Fallin will be appreciated more and more. Owensboro is a great job. The expectations that go with it & who they have in their path to Kroger Field also make it a tough job.

As your handle suggests, time will tell on the Johnson kid.  Again rumors are just that.  And I don't believe at all that we don't have a chance for a deep run in the fall.  More than serviceable O Line with one of the 2-3 best backs in the state, a year of experience under young Dillard's belt and Hampton/Ashley leading the defense.  BG is gonna be down a little.  South Warren is moving up.  Atherton is gonna be a great team.  Not saying we will, but if OHS protects the football, they'll be a tough out for anyone with a very high end running game and a defense with upperclassmen leading it.

I agree with all this, however there’s a few variables. 
 

1. Who’s our coach? This will determine several things 

2. Does the coach retain most of the staff? 

3. Who’s playing QB? 
 

4. How do we keep our kids from going to other schools? 

But the BIGGEST question is when are we hiring a coach? Are we going to make it to page 50?

I’ve been told they plan to announce Monday.  But again, all hearsay.  It would make sense to take the weekend if they are finalizing some vetting on Ganaway.  If it’s Hall or Barnes, waiting and taking so long makes NO SENSE whatsoever.

That’s good, tomorrow will be a good start. We need to get this boat running. It’s been too long and I don’t care who’s the coach we need direction.

Very, just not the sort of job that you would assume to take as long as they possibly can to announce. Still feel as though it’s a job wanted by many, but at this point I have to assume the quality of suitors can’t possibly be as high as I or many of us on this thread may have thought they were. I wouldn’t be shocked if they pull a name out of left field that none of us have mentioned.

As far as #2 goes this late in the game you are more than likely retaining a majority of the staff.  You might be able to bring in a few new coaches but I doubt you will have them for spring ball so if its a coordinator there will be no spring install which is a big deal to get terminology installed before July practices.

I think in this day and age, going into a new situation most coaches need to retain a few coaches (depending on the size of the school and roster).  It's harder finding quality assistant coaches willing to move than it is Head Coaching candidates.  The money doesn't justify the means for coaches picking up and relocating.
