Name them... Go back through the last 12 years and show me the "whole bunch of teams from smaller and lower-classed schools to fill out their non-district schedule"  So out of the 7 non-district games tell me the 4 or 5 teams a year that are soft opponents.  Also name the teams outside of Trinity that they are "consistently" unable to beat.  It's easy to restate talking points without the specifics to actually back it up.

The word "soft" is not something that I said. That's your terminology, not mine. Nor did I say "4 or 5 teams a year". Again, your words. Trying to put words into someone's mouth that they never said in the first place isn't a very sound way to win a argument.

The point I was making was that if Simon Kenton is a 6A program, they should be able to beat teams from smaller classes. When a program is performing the way it should, wins over smaller schools shouldn't be impressing anyone.

But anyway, you said 12 years. So that means we're starting with 2013 & 2014...two seasons where Simon Kenton's ENTIRE non-district schedule was against schools from lower classes. Over the last 12 regular seasons, Simon Kenton has scheduled 54 of their total 107 non-district games (50.46%) against opponents in lower classes, and 28 of those 54 lower-classed teams have been more than one class-level below Simon Kenton.

In the last 12 years, Simon Kenton is 7-6 against 6A Ryle...that's barely as marginally "consistent" as you can possibly be. In the last 12 years Simon Kenton is 0-3 against 5A/4A Cov Cath. That's not consistently beating a lower-class team. They're 0-2 against 3A Ashland. That's not consistently beating a lower-class team. They're 0-2 against 4A Johnson Central. That's not consistently beating a lower-classed team. They're 1-5 against 1A/2A Beechwood. That's not consistently beating a lower-class team.

And you're gonna be hard-pressed to convince anyone that Simon Kenton wasn't scheduling Holy Cross, Bullitt Central, New Cath, Scott, and Russell knowing damn-well that those games oughta be a slam-dunk for putting one in the W column.

I'm not restating talking points. I'm stating points. Facts. With plenty of evidence to prove them. So there you have it, complete with "the specifics to actually back it up." ?

Rookies... Smh.

Poor little Highlands.  Don’t bother scheduling them. You’ll get slammed for your soft schedule.

LOL.

Same with schools like CAL, Beechwood, Corbin, Johnson Central, Southwestern, Woodford, and Ashland.

For the record, I like Simon Kenton's schedule over the years.

Don’t schedule Corbin or CovCath either. Pantywaists.

In all seriousness, we all get a kick out of this stuff.  SK is very much a middle of the road 6A team.   The vast majority of the time, they’re not really competitive with the 6A upper crust.

So how do they schedule?   I’ve always believed that beyond the necessity of the district games, schedule a couple of games you should win, schedule a couple you shouldn’t, and a couple or three more that should be tossups.  Schedule teams with different strengths so you can identify your own weaknesses.  Consequently, school size in and of itself shouldn’t be the be-all and end-all of scheduling.

Heaven knows I have no allegiance to Simon Kenton.   But an inconvenient truth for them is that there are precious few 6A schools less than a three-hour round trip away.

Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming.  It’s always enjoyable.
