Well the week has finally gotten here.  After 10 months of debating who will win the rematch from last years game when the underclassmen heavy Cooper took down the Senior heavy Birds in the playoffs 17-15.  Now the roles are reversed with the Birds heavily utilizing Jr's and Sophomores with a handful of Seniors, whereas Cooper is basically returning everyone (just a year older) that made it to the State Championship game last year with hopes to get back to Kroger Field.

Will Cooper continue to flex their muscles with Cam O'Hara, Austin Alexander, Isaiah Johnson, and Keegan Maher OR will the Bluebirds find a way to stop those Jaguars?

Cooper dodged a close one against Ryle 3 weeks ago but other than that they have really had their way with their opponents.  With a current record of 5-0 for Coach Borchers.  Tonight they carved up Great Crossing with over 400 yards of offense led by O'Hara throwing the ball for 312 yards and 6TDs, WOW, just WOW!!!!  Do the Birds have the man power in the secondary to hold him in check???

Birds on the other hand stand at 4-1 and after a hard fought come from behind win at Park Hills seem to have stalled lately offensively.  The defense held Campbell County and Raceland scoreless but the offense struggled to sustain long drives and have any type of rhythm to make me believe that they can carve up Cooper's defense with how they are running things right now.  The game against Ryle still has me scratching my head wondering who is running the offense?

I really want to see my Birds succeed but I just have a pit in my stomach right now how things are looking.

Talk to me Bird faithful, make me feel good about what we have seen so far in this 2024 season to give me hope that the Birds can host Cooper and walk away victorious and have the commanding #1 seed in our District which will be extremely important this season.

Historically speaking Sphire currently holds a 3-1 record against Cooper with the lone loss being the last game in the 2023 playoffs.

Let's go BIRDS....Make me BELIEVE!!!

Concessions!?! I am boarding up the windows as we speak here in the Fort.  The locals have traded their golf carts for canoes.  Kids are swimming home instead of walking.  After the 2:45pm dismissal,

  • Highlands wins if they stick to the run.

The only sure thing about this game is, this won't be the score....again. Will be a good one.

?

looking forward to a “throw down”

Seems like a toss-up ?

The big questions:

1. Can Highlands slow down the explosive Cooper offense?

2. If they can’t, is there any chance at all the Bluebirds can keep up?

3. What is the true assessment of Cooper’s defense? Last night could have been a whole lot closer at the end of not for two Ryker Campbell interceptions.

I would lean Cooper here, giving them the edge on offense. 38 28 Jaguars.

Cooper by 2 Touchdowns, this is their year.  By no means to jump ahead, Highlands will have the next two years.

Cooper is going to be tough for anyone to beat this year.

O’Hara is the best QB as NKY has had in a while and he’s got some real weapons to get the ball to.

Cooper is rightfully favored, but I see a game going down to the wire. The only outcome that would shock me is a Highlands victory by 10+ points. Best wishes to both teams for a hotly contested game with good sportsmanship! Cooper - Highlands and X/T are the two top games in the Commonwealth Friday night.

Stay focused Bird's!  The game is won on the field and not in polls.

I've seen both teams play and consider this matchup a tossup. Both teams have playmakers and it wouldn't surprise me if this one goes down to the wire. Got to give Cooper a slight advantage based on coaching staffs, respectfully.

This is going to be great game between 2 of the best teams in 5A.

Cooper is very tough offensively.  For Highlands, their QB doesn't have to beat Cooper but he needs to not turn the ball over.  Do that and I think Highlands will be very competitive in this game.

With BG having a light week, I might just head up I-71.

Good luck to both teams!

Highlands wins if they stick to the run.

This will be one interesting game, the stadium will be packed, the Birds will be ready, so will Cooper!

One of the most anticipated matchups of the year. I cannot wait to be live for this one. The best free live broadcast can be found on the FT Film and Broadcast YouTube page! https://www.youtube.com/@HHSFilmAndBroadcast

When these two met in the postseason, it was the second most viewed sporting event we've ever put on. Should be another good one!
