Don't tell the folks at Lyon County that lol. I think that many folks around KY feel the same way about their respective coach. Coach Ruthshatz did a great job......but the Colonels have been a well respected program for a long time way before he arrived. They have had many fine coaches.

To the first two...not a chance. Cov Cath isn't interested in Sully, and the Listerman family has no love for Cov Cath after their patriarch was ousted.

The Diocese was not involved. This was entirely Coach Ruthsatz's decision to leave. He was not run off by anyone, and he is leaving still very much on good terms with the school.

I would have to assume that is the case, yeah. Personally, I would be pretty seriously surprised to see anyone who is currently a head coach of any NKY high school program get the job.

Like I said, though, it definitely won't be Sullivan or Listerman. Definitely not.

I would say Sully would have no love for this job to begin with so that feeling would be mutual. Definitely agree with your comment on the Listerman family. That departure was not pretty. 

Only one with their head buried in sand didn’t know that said sands were a shifting over last few months. Fredrick got the boot and then now Ruthsatz resignation. Other social media platforms seem to suggest something more. In addition, wasn’t he close to getting an sizeable annuity payout in a couple years?

As for raising standard in region, I’d think David Henley at Holmes raised the bar, prior to Ruthsatz arrival. The 05, 07, 08, 09 run was impressive. Faltered in 2010. Personally, I think moving the region to NKU raised standard, to an extent, for 9th Region hoops.

Most years CCH had best talent in region and won with exception of a few years.  2014 may have been his best coaching job. He was a heckuva coach and accomplished a bunch at CCH.

I’d expect CCH to cast a wide net and wouldn’t be surprised to make an outside the area hire like they did with Ruthsatz.

Just read the announcement in the NKy Tribune and related article about the family businesses that with his father turning 90 now need his full-time attention in Sandusky, Ohio.  Classy guy, great coach and perhaps there is no conspiracy here at all.  Just time to do exactly what he feels is right.  The article seemed to indicate that the family would stay local and the 3 kids remain in their present schools while he would commute to Sandusky.

No one can ever say a single bad thing about David Henley and the Holmes Bulldogs from 05-09. Three straight Final Fours from 07-09. After the 2007 season they lost 3 division one caliber starters in Duran Jefferson, Austin Hill, and Greg Rice and still competed for a state championship the next season. I can't think of team that lost that much and make it to the state championship the next season. But it makes sense when you consider this fun fact, on the 08 team and staff alone there are six current KHSAA head coaches. That's not just squeezing every ounce of ability and commitment out of your players but he fulfilled the primary mission of EDUCATION. These guys know basketball through and through. Watch the way Sully's Cooper team defended CovCath in the region this year and if you can find it, watch Henley's Bulldogs teams play defense. There was literally no difference.

I know Scott, personally. We had a conversation yesterday and his reason for leaving is 100% about his family business. He found it just too difficult to coach and run his business at the same time. It was requiring lots of hours and limiting his time with his family. 

His record at CCH speaks volumes. In addition to the many stats already mentioned, I’d like to add:

KOBC Champions 2021. I’m pretty sure the only NKY team to do this.

Battle at the Villages Champions 2019.

Coach of the Year 2014 & 2018

Kentucky vs. Indiana Allstar Coach 2022

Tough act to follow! He built it and they came!
