^^^This The coaching profession is losing many talented people for the wrong reasons. It’s more about parents and alums than it is about the kids. Sad.

The Diocese was not involved. This was entirely Coach Ruthsatz's decision to leave. He was not run off by anyone, and he is leaving still very much on good terms with the school.

This inevitably will be the end of amateur sports. Between officials and coaches, no one will think it's worth the time.

Any news here?  Hearing a name that would shock the region and district.

No one has been shy about spilling names here so who do ya got?

Hearing a former 9th region and state champ winning team from a District rival.

No way it’s Listerman….I’ll believe that when I see it.  I would not be opposed to it as long as He starts coaching some Defense, but I just cannot see that happening….

District rival, state champ coach.

A district rival would be, Holmes, Holy Cross or Beechwood.

He is making zero sense.  Just out with it.

Intriguing, *if* David Henley has thrown his hat in the ring.

Not that it holds much water now, but IIRC there was a lot of mutual respect between Dan Tieman and Coach Henley.

A nice add to any pool of applicants.

Golly, @colonel-fan is right, this is a fun thread.

Just to be clear. CovCath is in the 35th District. Highlands is in the 36th so they're not district rivals. They're regional rivals. The other teams that are 35th District rivals of CovCath are Beechwood, Holmes and Holy Cross. Are we talking about David Henley? I heard he just retired at Eastern and was done with coaching. Given those recent circumstances, that truly would be a shock. However, he's only 58 (only, he says...) so he's "young" enough to still keep coaching. He’s one of a small group of Kentucky basketball coaches with 500 career wins and a state championship, 2009 at Holmes.

CovCath doesn’t need a search committee, just crowd source for possible matches.

And I don’t think a very strong candidate has even been mentioned…

Like this?

Henley is retired from teaching and a legend in NKY (and the state), he would be a slam dunk if you didn’t do a national search.

Could be Jason Booher from Holmes former State Champion Coach.  I think I heard he is the Superintendent for Mercer County schools.  He was definitely a great coach when he was at Holmes and before that at Shelby Valley where he won both the All A state and the Sweet 16 in the same season.  I don’t think he is Catholic so that might be a problem.

Is the religious beliefs of a coach that big a deal?

Does everyone in the building have the same beliefs?

I wouldn’t think someone’s Religion would disqualify them from a job?
