Any chance the western Kentucky fans are underestimating CovCath?

As someone that follows the whole state I am thinking maybe.

I like CovCath close in this game.  Best of luck to both teams!

I don’t think either team or coach is underestimating the other team. They both know it will be a battle. Their both 13-0 for a reason.

  • Put it this way, I already have the NFHS and I am paying extra to get it directly from CovCath.  You won't be disappointed and it is very professional, almost like a college broadcast.

They’re actually a lot of fans that do if they know there’s a possible chance they have to play them in the playoffs. I remember an early part of the season hearing PT head coach tell another coach that he’s been watch the CC, Corbin, and Boyle. He was saying 4A was top heavy and he figured PT would play one of those 3 in the playoffs. I know some of the coaches travel to games on bye weeks to watch the good teams in their class play.

I don’t see this getting into the 40s because EE will slow the tempo of the game down.

This will be the game plan and perhaps the biggest factor to watch for. If CCH can sustain drives and control clock, it will help control the PT offense.

The typical PT team is always athletic, but usually under achieving. Tending to self implode with disciplinary issues. The difference this year is they've added several talented players from McCracken Co to go along with a couple of out of state 4 star prospects and seems to have broke a lot of those bad habits. They've added some good assistants and have them playing the style of ball they should have been playing all along. Just 2-3 years ago, they dressed 40 kids if they were lucky, now they dress somewhere in the 70-75 range. Big difference. They still make too many penalties for my liking, but, you can still see the difference in past teams. Night and day.

This comment doesn’t exactly pertain to this game but Paducah could be a force to reckon with for the next handful of years. QB Jack James and ATH Martels Carter are both only juniors with several other stars including D1 linemen that will all be returning next year. Their 8th grade team beat Corbin 50-0 in the state semifinals this year and defeated Boyle County 26-8 in the state championship. Their 8th grade QB has already been offered by UK. As a Mayfield fan, it’s a very scary thought.

For as much as I may not always love the down to down playcalling (though it is much better this year than 21 and 22), the staff is very, very good at playing complementary football.

With PTs offense, I expect us to wind the play clock down just about every play, be aggressive on 4th and short and I think Pitzer is a pretty good player at QB and is going to be able to scramble to convert on 3rd down a few times. He’s also completing 73% of his passes this year, so I’m not sure the clock will be stopped a bunch while we’re on offense.

Will Paducah be coming by school bus or by a charter bus? Big difference in comfort for a long ride?

I’m not a 100% sure but I don’t see any reason they wouldn’t be on a charter bus.

They will most definitely be on charter buses.

? Fun facts re Blue Tornado PK/P Shep Esper:

?% He has never missed a PAT, a perfect 99/99. 2023 - 96/96; 2022 - 1/1; 2021 - 2/2.

? Esper's 99 consecutive PATs made is #2 on the all-time list. The KY record is 108 by Will Harris - Boyle Co. (2010-2011).

? Esper's 96 PATs in his senior season is also a KY #2 all-time mark. Only Scott County's Palmer Ward has connected on more - 102 in 2013.

? In a game I think has a razor thin margin of error this Friday, his accuracy is a superb asset for Tilghman.

? As a fan of the opposition, one that has produced Shane Popham and Trey Gronotte - Well done Mr. Esper!
