Tigers Prowling The Capital, Sniffing For Upset Of Undefeated Flyers

Records: Bardstown (8-4) | Franklin (12-0)

BGP 4A Rankings: Bardstown (#10) | Franklin (#5)

Round 2 Results: Bardstown beat Logan County | Franklin beat North Oldham

Series History: First ever meeting

Teaser Preview: Franklin County has lived up to its nickname lately, soaring above the competition since the midseason brush with defeat at Southwestern. The Flyers have dispatched their last five opponents by a combined score of 252-14. Quarterback Duri Trahan has been sharp to the point of cutting opposing secondaries to ribbons during that stretch, completing his passes at an 80% clip with 13 touchdowns and zero interceptions.

That may prove problematic for a Bardstown secondary that's been vulnerable against the pass this season.

Any defense can appear vulnerable to the talents and skill set of Tyleeq Williams, Bardstown's all-state mighty mouse and pound-for-pound one of the state's elite football players.

He'll need to summon the height of his powers to evade the collective grasp of a stellar Flyers defensive unit, one that allows 8 ppg.

Quarterback Amonti Marshall has emerged to take some of the heat off Williams.

They'll both be in the crosshairs of Jeremy Walters (111 tackles/5.5 sacks), Jon Griffin (30 TFL/18 sacks), and Luke Toothaker (16 TFL/6.5 sacks).

Bardstown is seeking a second straight semifinal appearance, while a Franklin County win would give the Flyers four in a row.

Bardstown finds out what it’s like to play big boy football.

They’ve been playing at a high level for about 70 years so I’m not sure that’s issue. However, they aren’t as talented this season as the past few years and Franklin County is very much the real deal. I suspect the Flyers take care of business without much trouble this week.

I think that happened the first week against Cooper.

I voted for Franklin, and I don't know much about either team, but looking at both teams' records and scores, I think Bardstown has a shot at winning this one.

I like a good laugh here and there, thanks for that.

Flyers roll big, not because they’re playing little ol Bardstown but simply put, they’re the more talented team across the board. Love what HC David Clark has done with the Bardstown program and keeping the tradition afloat, I do believe they have one of the better players in the state lining up for the Tigers though in ATH Tyleeq Williams (SR)

Franklin County 42 Bardstown 14

Flyers will be too physical for Bardstown with the speed to match! Flyers roll through another one! Running clock!

Franklin County is a real good team, and the Tigers will have to play a near perfect game to win.

That said, it looks as though the juvenile members on here are trying to drum up bulletin board responses out of Tiger fans. My momma told me to act like we’ve been there before (oh wait, we have!), so I won’t oblige you.

This game will not be competitive. Flyers roll.

I will be in the minority here. Have said Bardstown would be a team that you do not want to see in playoffs for about the last month and they continue to get better. TyTy is one of the best in the state. Defense is returning A LOT of starters from the same team that won 3a last year..... Amonti Marshall getting better as QB. I think Bardstown keeps it close but losses in a close one. don't sleep on the Tigers. This game could very well be Franklin big but Bardstown has been here before.

The Tigers have been here before, but if I may, a correction - CAL won last year's 3A title game vs. Bardstown.

33 to 4 Flyers in the poll right now.

I think Bardstown will do better than what most of the replies are showing. They looked terrible at the start of the year but have hit their stride mid-season on and I think will be more of a challenge than given credit for. That being said, Franklin County should win by a couple of scores as they are bigger, stronger, more physical and playing at home.

@DawgsFan100 "This game could very well be Franklin big but Bardstown has been here before." Flyers have won the Region the past 3 seasons. The Flyers staff will have the players ready to go. Flyers win this one.

Flyer boys will be ready for a fight I hope! I see on KHSAA they have a kid with some great stats, will be interested to see if the Flyer D can hold down a really elite player.
