Congratulations to Coach Trosper. I wish him well. (That is a serious comment)

Slick, you've stumped me. I can't figure out why that statement, without the parenthetical clarification, would've been taken as anything but. :D

You can choose to believe me or not. This is an opinion board. It is my opinion (thru trusted sources) that he is happy away from football. I am a Yeagle supporter all the way, but he did not apply.

You are wrong! He did apply! Twice!

I don't think you can base the hiring of a coach on a winning percentage. There are many other factors. I know nothing about the guy so I have no bias one way or the other.

I think you would have to look at winning percentage but not base it on that solely. Never did anything to speak of at Holmes. But, it is not as if Conner, is a program on top looking down on others, either. Having said that, I believe there is tons of potential there, just waiting to be tapped by the right person. I hope he does not bring the "youth league" style offense he ran at Holmes or the Boone style ,being a Boone grad, with him.

Getting someone from Boone could be a good thing.:thumb: :thumb:

No hidden meaning there .... I was very outspoken about my first choice--to the point where it probably looked biased.

I just wanted to be clear that there wasn't any bad feelings.

It seems that they did not make the right decision. Were there better candidates? I dont know about the dynamics of the school, but from the outside looking in, this could be an excellent opportunity for the right coach. When will he meet the team?

I'm not aware of the other candidates, but isn't Trosper the guy most people in "Cougarville" wanted?

Congrats to Coach Trosper. He will do a fine job at Conner. For those who are upset that he got the position.....Conner isn't a HIGH profile job. They had good years in the past few, but thats it. Granted they do have a ton a of potential. I'm with OldOne on this one.

They have a long history with a state championship and you are right there is alot of potential waiting in the stables looking at the freshman team this year and the other kids waiting in the wings. I look forward to many good years comng from the kids at Conner! I hope everyone from the Burlington/Hebron area backs the kids and Coach Trosper!

I don't believe you and you should find other trusted sources. Agree this is an opinion board but opinions about other peoples life's that you probably don't even know personally should be kept to yourself, IMO.

Congratulations to Coach Trosper.

Be realistic here. Is it possible that Yeagle may tell one group of people one thing and another group something else? If he is smart and I am sure he is, he would want to keep his options open. By commiting to have a great interest in Conner, other schools may feel they may lose out on other candidates by waiting for him.

Anyway, who really cares at this point. Conner has their man. Yeagle is at Dayton. A school with a young quality head coach. This is not to knock Dayton, but if a high profile coach were really that high in demand, he would not be sitting out a year in Dayton.

Congrats to Coach Trosper!

Sounds like a knock on Yeagle to me, and if it is some kind of backhanded insult, it's totally uncalled for.

If Yeagle applied and Conner did not hire him, it's the school's loss.

If he didn't apply, I guess he wasn't interested.

Either way, backhanded wisecracks toward one of the best coaches in the state's history are uncalled for.

....and that would preclude Conner from getting a head coach how?

IMO: It is neither a knock or an insult. Basically, it is what it is. I know his name will continue to be brought up for any open job. I'm sure he will land a good (more permanent) job sometime soon. To go to a small school with limited resources in talent and money, does not show a high demand.

Maybe, it was the only PE job available at the time. If he were really that high in demand, a principal would have made a spot available somewhere.

I just dont think the time is right for Coach Yeagle to come back to Coaching. If it were, noone would be more qualified. Even if he bombed an interview, his credentials would not be matched. Let's think about it, who would you want for your football program - a guy that has won 7 or 8 state championships or some other coach?
