Vanderbilt 80 Kentucky 73 (SEC Quarterfinal)

Featured Replies

Final. Our defense was not very good Vandy shot almost 50% and 40% from 3 and 90% from the line. Then we shot 11-20 and two of those were front ends as well.

"I'm not here to win championships; I'm here to get these young men into the NBA." Told everyone in the Commonwealth plainly where his priorities lie.    We just didn't believe him. It's won

You guys are worried about seeding, I'm worried about if we win the next game.  At least we won't be playing St. Petes.

I'm just leaving from seeing Scream 6.  Glad I missed this.  Suspected a loss anyway.

No they won’t. They probably will slip to a 7 seed now though.

Thought a 5 was possible and a 6 was realistic provided they didn’t bow out early. Then they bowed out early. Seeding may now depend more on what other teams do rather than what Kentucky has done, and I’m with you, that makes me think 7.

Well that sucked. Defense struggled and even when they did have good defense, Vandy would make a ridiculous shot as the shot clock went off. This game was very similar to the South Carolina game with some of the shots Vandy made today.

I guess the one good thing is this UK team has bounced back every time people started write them off and say they had no chance. People said no chance at Tennessee and the Cats won. People said no chance at Arkansas with Wallace out and coming off the Vandy loss, and the Cats won. Now with this early SEC exit, people will say no chance in the big tournament. So hopefully they will bounce back and prove people wrong and go on a run.

With that said it’s definitely a downer entering the tournament with this early exit.

I was thinking the same.

I understand folks frustration but you DON'T fire a guy after he recruits possibly his best class ever.  Cal tried to adjust to the transfer portal by picking up key pieces to make up for some recruiting deficiency over the last few seasons.  You don't cut ties when he moves away from that, for the most part and recruits possibly his best class ever.  You just don't.

With that said and based on the current trend for 2024 recruiting.  That might be his last run at Kentucky.  On his own account though.

Most of the prognosticators had them at 5 going into this game

Probably will dance with a 10 or an 11 now.

Does it really matter?

Give me a team with good guard play over a team with good big guy play any day come March.

Cats struggle with consistency from outside, struggle with free throws, and are a well below average team with passing.  All these things equate to making it easy for other teams to play defense against.

UK does rebound really well though but they also lack a rim presence as there is no shot blocker.

It's highly unlikely that they'll make it out of the first weekend.

So how was the movie?   I liked the early ones, the wife loves them.

That pretty much sums it up. UK could not get the stops they needed on defense. Free throw shooting is going to be a problem at the end of games when your guys are playing 38 minutes. UK lost this game at the end of the first half when they let Vandy go on that 12-0 run to end the half.
