Interesting that the contract total and years for Brown is virtually the same as the contract Jesse Bates signed. And both played under the franchise tag last year.

At that contract, do you want Bates or Brown?

I also like the fact that Brown only turns 27 years old in May. Pay for what is hardest to find in the market. And that contract is actually a good value - #20 for offensive tackles. Plus he is one of the youngest among the highest paid tackles. That's a big chunk of money but still a good value.

Bates is a fine player but protecting Joe Burrow is the mission statement.

Well that confirms it. If you want to get a lot of money out of the Bengals your last name needs to be Brown.

  • Good news!

Brown. LT is way more valuable than Safety.

I think most would agree that if Burrow stays clean the Bengals will win.

I'm fired up he has signed with the Bengals! However, I don't understand why he turned down a 6 year 132 million contract with the Chiefs that would have made him the highest paid o-lineman in the league to sign with the Bengals for 4 years and 64 million and be the 17th highest paid in the league. I am glad he did, however. lol

I don't know anything about the Chiefs offer but my guess is guarantees. The Bengals deal probably has better guarantees.

From Fox19.com:

Shalonda Mixon, sister of Bengals’ running back Joe Mixon, and her boyfriend, Lamonte Brewer, have been indicted on charges in connection with the shooting that injured a 16-year-old outside of NFL star’s house, Hamilton County Prosecutor Melissa Powers announced Thursday.

The short article went on to say Joe Mixon was there but did not commit a crime.

I actually think it was the signing bonus of $31 million. In part of the article I read below it looks like he might have overplayed his had and thought he would get more.

According to a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, former Chiefs left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. will sign with the Cincinnati Bengals. He’s currently finalizing a four-year contract worth over $64 million with a signing bonus of $31 million, which is the largest ever for an offensive lineman.

That’s still quite a bit less than the six-year extension worth up to $139 million that the Chiefs reportedly offered Brown Jr. a year ago. It seems that he might have overplayed his hand in negotiations with Kansas City, just a bit.

No matter what he did I'm glad it was the Bengals that benefited from it! I'm stoked!

I was running to my computer, thanks!

It’s a league where offense is king and the Bengals are throwing all their chips on keeping 9 clean and winning with their weapons.

That is what I would do, all in on Joe Burrow.

Saw where Rams S Taylor Rapp was in town today after visiting NE yesterday.   Seems like a decent veteran replacement for Bell or Bates.

Nick Scott too, maybe playing against us in the Super Bowl opened their eyes.

Signing Scott is like trading your Lambo and Porsche in on a Pinto.

Jonah Williams wants a trade now that Orlando Brown is on the team. Hopefully we can get some decent value for him.
