Colonel 17
47 minutes ago, gchs_uk9 said: Agreed with both of these points. With as much information as there is on high school sports there is no reason for the out-of-state issue to be so complex. You shouldn't be punished for playing good teams from other states, nor should border schools be punished for playing teams that are much closer in proximity to them than teams actually in Kentucky. This is never even looked at because it does not matter to central KY teams around Lexington, so it is never thought of, that if your school is on a border, you just lost 50% of the reasonable travel options you have.

And I hate to keep beating this drum, but Kentucky High School Football would be better served by using Calpreps or even the TP94 Power Ratings vs. RPI. Agreed. CalPreps.com seems to be the source to use. Boyle beats Gibson Southern who ends up making the semifinals in their class in Indiana and gets the same rating as beating a winless team in the same state. A Kentucky team could beat a TN powerhouse such as Murfreesboro Oakland or a weak Metro Nashville team and get the same rating. Crazy!

DragonFire
They’ve posted enrollment figures on KHSAA site, but they don’t include the male enrollments, only total. If not for that, we’d be able to tell right now who was going where.

You can't have a district with 4 teams and a district with 6 teams right next to each other.

Not the most ideal, but sometimes unavoidable. That’s the case right now with both 2A D5 & D6 and 3A D5 & D6.

Geography does make it almost unavoidable. 2A D1 also has 6 next to 2A D1 with 4.
