That was a nice way of letting him leave without having to fire him and pay him out. He wasn't the only one making that "decision" Arizona made the decision to part ways as well.

Arizona athletics director Dave Heeke said in a statement. "After taking the many factors involved into account, we simply believe that we need a fresh start and now is the time. I want to thank Sean, Amy and their sons for their service to the university and wish them the very best in the future.''

I do not understand the thinking “Who else could we get?”. Why does it have to be a big name hire, or a guy who had one or two good years at a non-basketball school, I.e. Billy G? Why can’t it be a young hotshot assistant coach? Roy Williams did pretty good for himself, Bill Self still tearing it up, Coach K did alright, and there has to be more examples. Plus Cal isn’t getting fired, he is leaving on his own accord.

Would be an interesting choice. Has obviously been successful and has coached at a premier program (I'd put Arizona among the 10-15 best in the country). The recent end of his tenure, even if he wasn't fired, might be cause for concern. Barnhart has always leaned pretty conservative on these hires and it took a second try to hire the obvious choice of Calipari at the time. If I were guessing, right or wrong, I'd say he wouldn't choose Miller.

Ohio State's Chris Holtmann's name seems to come up quite a bit. He's been a successful regular season coach but not much in the postseason (he had a 2/15 loss to Oral Roberts himself). If he wasn't from Jessamine County, I'm curious if his name would even be mentioned?

I agree with you. However, I think a lot of people don't see an obvious choice. Add to that the fact that there is so much more money involved in coaches' salaries today, everyone everywhere is getting paid so a jump to Kentucky isn't as financially necessary as it might have been for some guys in the past.
