Why? To get one more competitive game in district? For almost every situation, I think moving up is not a good idea. Even for Beechwood. Not saying they couldn't or wouldn't compete for a State title...I'm sure they would. They don't give out bonus points for moving up in class.

District 5 ...

 The new district will definitely put more pressure on non district scheduling, mainly due to 5 district opponents instead of 3. Walton Verona usually has good RPI. Bracken, Carroll and Owen were better RPI last year than Newport and Holy Cross. Gallatin needs to get better or they will hurt RPI. Beechwood will need to play 5 solid schools in higher classes in their non district games to offset. Paintsville and Somerset are probably off the schedule. New Cath is a tough call. CCH will stay - too much rivalry and history. Dixie probably stays. Perhaps SK stays also. That leaves 1 or 2 new openings.

I have to think Somerset goes off anyway because that's already a possible sister district playoff game in round 2.

Beechwood always has a road trip game. I agree it won't be Somerset. I could see Fairdale staying on the schedule. Then find another 2-3 hour road trip game. I think New Cath might get dropped due to this 6 team district. That game 10 opponent may become a road trip game. You need two road trip opponents to make sure you travel every season.

They played 2017-20. Beechwood went 3-1 against Corbin.

Somerset's dance card is filling up pretty quickly, based on the schedules I've seen released already. I'm guessing as well that they're gone. We've verified that New Cath is out. Highlands isn't on the schedule (not that you mentioned it, but it seems like that matchup gets mentioned a handful of times each year all the same.) 

Thus far we know that Beechwood plays at Campbell County on August 25th, and that Walton-Verona plays at Beechwood on September 29th.

At least there is a Hometown Pizza in Carrolton and Warsaw.

Are they open in week 6, 7, or 8? Pikeville is looking for a game and will travel from what I’ve been told.

I think Pikeville may happen sometime in the future.
