Nice pick up for a neighboring team ?

Maybe he’ll join his AAU teammates in Newport. Guessing he can slide right in at QB with little competition.

One of the reasons I admire the historical and current success Beechwood has had is that they have done it without a ton of "D1" talent. Attempting to call them out for lack of success at the next lev

Cash needs to do what he thinks is best for him. Hopefully he is happy and gets what he is looking for. I wish him the best whether it is Beechwood, Cov Cath or somewhere else.

So I’ve heard. Which is usually a dead give away when you start in one youth program, change to another school, and then get shopped around after being at one school for another.

The Harneys' reputation for being super difficult to deal with is well known info even in my neck of the woods. Interestingly enough CovCath seems to do okay handling prima donnas for however long they park their drama wagons at CovCath, be it Geisler or Mason or Starks.

Question though. Doesn't the transfer law that started this past July mean Cash will have to sit his entire sophomore year, given the fact that he played varsity football and basketball, both? I know the law makes it so there is no longer any 'appeal to the KHSAA' situation.

Didn’t Geisler, Starks, and Mason all end up eventually leaving CCH?

Yep. Exactly my point. CovCath seemed to handle things fine with those three and CovCath just moved on once they took their sideshows elsewhere.

I haven't ever know the KHSAA to budge on transfer eligibility on basis of religion. The issue will have to be handled in the courts now since it's a state law and not just a KHSAA bylaw, but are you saying that the Harneys intend to argue in that Cash should be eligible to play sports at CovCath next year on the basis of the transfer being religiously based? LOL

The Harneys better start showing up every single blessed Sunday wherever they go to church and tossing double or triple into the collection plate. LOL

I have no idea how they intend to argue their case, nor do I really care, nor do I think he should be eligible. I simply just stated what I’ve been told. Cash starts schools at CovCath on Monday, and they intend to go the religious reason route to get eligible.

Who did Harney lose the starting role to? The pre season hasn’t even started yet. The new coach may like him as the starter. I know this goes on a lot but the parents need to relax, it’s just high school ball. I’d think a coach like Rash would’ve just told the parents to pound pavement and moved on, not retire because of them being overbearing idiots.

If the state buys into “religious exemption”, then they have zero credibility. Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t his sister go to 3 high schools in 4 years?

The State had no credibility to start. Harney's will find a way to get him Eligible. Noway the Mom sits out her Sophmore year of High School. LOL! You can only shop around a Kid for so long. They could certainly go the Ohio route. Seems to be the New trend.

What’s going to get lost in all of this is how well the football program was able to navigate through everything this year. Dealing with this family and injuries and still able to hoist the trophy is impressive.

According to some of the players, the family refused to allow him to move positions when the coaches tried after Clay Hayden came back from injury. That’s crazy.

But back to the thread topic, the 2023 Tigers are going to be really good. One less distraction and tons of talent in the program. Whoever gets the HC job is in a really good position to succeed immediately.

He would have been the unquestioned starter for 4 years had he just went to school where he lived in Taylor Mill. The grass isn't always greener, and now he could end up losing a valuable year of football and basketball. And there's no guarantee that things will work out they way they want at Cov Cath either. What happens then?

Beechwood will be fine with or without him, and I have a feeling he'll end up missing Beechwood more than Beechwood misses him.

Or they could just move and send him to the public school of their choice if they have a Bonafide change of address, could they not?
