2023 Beechwood Tigers

Featured Replies

I was told the schedule was finished, except for the week 1 bowl opponent. Sounds like they’re going back to Fairdale to play in their bowl game, which hopefully goes back to a 4 team format like years past.

The non-district opponents are CovCath, Campbell, Dixie and Simon Kenton, not sure in what particular order.

One of the reasons I admire the historical and current success Beechwood has had is that they have done it without a ton of "D1" talent. Attempting to call them out for lack of success at the next lev

Cash needs to do what he thinks is best for him. Hopefully he is happy and gets what he is looking for. I wish him the best whether it is Beechwood, Cov Cath or somewhere else.

I doubted Beechwood would play anyone below class 3A in their out of district games. KHSAA RPI basically forces them to play up now that they have 5 district games. Even beating a 1A powerhouse like Pikeville would not be a big enough benefit to Beechwood's RPI.

Thus far we know that Beechwood plays at Campbell County on August 25th, and that Walton-Verona plays at Beechwood on September 29th.

Add in an away game at Carroll County on October 13th.

Sad to see New Cath is off the schedule. When will we the last time Beechwood and New Cath did not have a scheduled game?

Don’t worry your Pioneers still probably aren’t favored. ?

Here are the four games I've seen thus far for the Tigers...

Aug 18
Aug 25 at Campbell County
Sep 1 at Dixie Heights
Sep 8
Sep 15
Sep 22
Sep 29 vs. Walton-Verona (District)
Oct 6
Oct 13 at Carroll County (District)
Oct 20
Oct 27

They have three of those blanks to be filled in by district games against Bracken County, Gallatin County and Owen County.

SK is probably Sept 8th or August 18th.

So will CCH stay on the schedule or will they say screw you Beechwood for stealing the coach we don’t like?

- Fairdale already has a game scheduled for Aug 18 for their bowl, but I believe Beechwood is intending on playing at Fairdale that weekend against a different opponent, TBA.

- District opponent Gallatin County has a game against Bracken County on Oct 6, and District opponent Owen County has a game against Carroll County on Sep 22, so I'm assuming Beechwood will play Gallatin County on Sep 22, and Owen County on Oct 6.

- That leaves Sep 15 and Oct 27 open. Cov Cath is also open on Sep 15, so I'm assuming Beechwood and Cov Cath will play on Sep 15, which will finish out the Tigers' schedule, leaving them with their bye week on Oct 27 headed into the playoffs.

The QB “competition” drove at least one of them away.

The new district will definitely put more pressure on non district scheduling, mainly due to 5 district opponents instead of 3. Walton Verona usually has good RPI. Bracken, Carroll and Owen were better RPI last year than Newport and Holy Cross. Gallatin needs to get better or they will hurt RPI. Beechwood will need to play 5 solid schools in higher classes in their non district games to offset. Paintsville and Somerset are probably off the schedule. New Cath is a tough call. CCH will stay - too much rivalry and history. Dixie probably stays. Perhaps SK stays also. That leaves 1 or 2 new openings.

As a non supporter of either school, but kind of a fan of both and their history, I would hate to see New Cath and Beechwood stop playing each other.
