MorrowManiac
Using the RPI was a definite step in the right direction as far as it went. I admit I don't understand all of the factors involved. Take Class 4A for example. If the RPI was used as it exists today, why wasn't it used in the final pairings? If my analysis is correct, ranking the eight finalists and pairing them by RPI alone (1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5) would have resulted in Corbin vs Franklin Co., Boyle Co. vs Central, Lexington Catholic vs Johnson Central, Warren East vs Logan Co. That would have allowed one more of the historically strong teams (Corbin, Boyle, Lexington Catholic, Johnson Central) to advance to the final four. What am I missing here? Thanks for any clarification you can provide.
catsfan1984
For the final eight the state is ranked by RPI but it still split by east and west. At the final four where you are located does not matter. This was to safe from long travel during this round.

FB Head
RPI is used starting in the third round (this weekend) but is still divided by an east and west bracket. Districts 1-4 pair and 5-8, respectively. In the 4th round, RPI is again used with the remaining semifinalist where east/west no longer applies.
