Matt Rarliff--Starting PG on that team could have played at alot of places....etc

 

And HH has a lottery pick. Sorry but Paintsville would get smoked.

Clay Co/ Farmer do I have to say anything else.

I'd nominate the LexCath team that had Demetrius Green, William Graham and Harrison Morton

And Brian Smith. I saw Smith get some PT against Kentucky last night playing for Ole Miss.

The Highlands team that lost in the state finals would have had a shot at them. There style of ball control and physical play would have presented some problems. Also the match up zone they played would have slowed the Highlanders down some. Not to say they would have been a lock to win but they would have had a shot.

 

That team did lose to a talented Eastern team by 11, I can guarantee HH is better than Eastern but you never know in a one game set. As far as KY teams I've seen, Breck in '95 had a system that could take down a goliath.

Ditto...I would hve liked to see Dicky Beal, Shloemer and the boys from the 1990 Holmes state runer up team take on this squad. The 90 team w/ Wimzie, Hayes, and Pouncy were very athletic and would have presented some match up problems for HHS...especially with Wimzie's physical presence down low.

Wimzie played in the late 70's not in 90

Scott County was not that impressive at the Boyd Tourney...And if that is the best we have in the State this year, then our level is down.

 

Dont get me wrong, Scott is a nice team but not near the talent of the past State winners.

 

 

Are you serious? No one came within 40 of them in that tournament. It's hard to look good under those circumstances... The second five could have won the tournament.

 

I do think that Scott is just one of the contenders and that there are several schools in the 11th (and in other parts of the state) who could knock them off, but to say that they weren't impressive at the Boyd County tournament is rediculous. The three schools they played were the ones that were not impressive. They shouldn't have even played in it.

 

I'd take the Richie Farmer, Russ Farmer, Russ Chadwell Team if they got to play at Clay County and Coach Keith gave the refs a gift certificate to his clothing store.

 

I'd take the Fairdale team with Jermaine Brown and Carlos Turner - at Fairdale.

 

Ballard with Adam Chiles, Mac Wilkinson, Cedric Knight, Brandon Bender, and the little PG that was the MVP of the state tournament that year would have a good chance.

 

The Scott County team with Rick Jones, Scott Hundley, Casey Alsop, and AW Hamilton may have been able to pull it off - I'd like to watch AW Hamilton guard OJ. I don't know if that team would have an answer for Patterson inside.

 

Lex Cath with Shawn Fields and David ??? (went to Notre Dame) and Nathan Popp - (I can hear Ryan Lemond now when Patterson jams over Popp) maybe.

 

It should be fun to watch Scott Co. play them this year. I wish they still had Rodney Haddix!

Yep, he was. And after they moved he lived at home with mom and dad and went to the school district where they resided.

 

Same for Scott Hundley.

 

For the second time I will quote the high ranking administrator in the Scott County School System - "No, we absolutely do not recruit in Scott County, but we don't build fences around the county line either."

This team has to be one of the best choices so far. I remember hearing about some guys waiting to play in the sweet sixteen from another school, thinking they might have a chance to win. They were watching Lafayette and DIRK M during the opening tip off. The ball was up, tipped to Dirk, who went in for the slam. The players looked at each other and immediately agreed they had a good chance to come in second and were glad if nothing else, to have made the trip to the tournament. They had already decided on one play that Lafayette was superior.

Some of your teams may have made outstanding grades in chemistry but they were not really close talentwise or in athleticism. No contest. But, then it is fun to debate the issue.

 

Since we are getting so far afield, so to speak, I'll submit a team. How about the aborted 2005-2006 Rose Hill team? It would have consisted of three of the HHS starters (Mayo, Williams, Taylor), Billy Walker, Jonathan VanHoose, Austin Blair, Austin Robinson, Alex Barker, Matt Thomas, JuJuan Brown, and the two Rose Hill super freshmen, Dakotah Euton and Chad Jackson.

 

Now, before the usual suspects take offense, remember we are merely "supposing".

 

Mayo, Williams, and Taylor would be equal to Mayo, Williams, and Taylor.

Walker would "handle" Patterson.

JuJuan Brown, Matt Thomas, and Jonathan VanHoose would surpass the contributions of Early and Senior.

And, we still have the others.

Who would coach this team? How about Rickyp assisted by Fastbreak, Gatorlover, shooterx3, and SMOKEANDMIRRORS?

 

 

Paintsville had 3 D1 players and 3very, very successfull NAIA players HHS has OJ and Patterson who we all know have NBA written all over them but the other could be great or could be washes only time will tell.

If I'm not mistaken, Harlan High School had a nationally ranked (#13 I think) team in the early 90's. I don't think Mike Jones and the boys could have handled Mayo and Patterson though.
